The worst food I've ever been served. We came in and the waitress was asking what we wanted with pad in her hand before we'd even sat down, but it was fine, she was young and maybe learning, I explained we needed to see the menu a moment to decide. Once we'd taken our coats off and sat down, was asked again so I asked for two minutes please. This was unfortunately downhill from here on, I should have taken the hint and left. I ordered one of the English breakfasts and sparkling water. The bacon I received was GREY, and I didn't get the toast until I asked where it was. Sausages and saute potatoes were edible, school dinner style. The bottle of sparkling water was unsealed and semi flat, as though they had refilled 2 half drunk bottles into one. In the end our 2 meals cost nearly £15 for the worst cooked, quality tasting food we'd had - anywhere. I would recommend for safety that it be investigated what on earth the "bacon" really is, or how out of date, I shudder to think. I would never go here again if I was paid £20 to try eat anything but toast. We paid to avoid any issues and left with most of the dinner still on the plate. I've never ever felt so unlucky with a cafe, and felt so strongly about it, wanted to leave a review to...
Read moreWe decided to go in here today for a bacon roll before starting work today as the billboard down the road says £2.50 for a bacon or sausage roll. So we got 2 bacon rolls, a decaf coffee, and a tea, and my colleague was charged £13.80?? Surely the drinks can't have come to nearly £9 for 2 drinks. Then we went back in for lunch as the breakfast was nice despite my colleague being overcharged. I got a prawn sandwhich and a decaf coffee, and my colleague got a panini and a tea. The panini apparently was nice, but the prawns were disgusting they had no taste whatsoever I ended up leaving most of the sandwhich because it was horrible. I'm sure they used frozen prawns and not fresh, and the roll was stale sorry, and I was charged £14 for the privilege. Sorry, I won't be coming back in mainly because my colleague has been overcharged, and the prawns have been disgusting. I would have given 1 star if the bacon roll wasn't nice, but...
Read moreI have to say I visited this cafe mid afternoon for a snack after tackling the steep hill to the cathedral and back!
In my opinion it's a very nice cafe. Prices are refreshingly reasonable for a city based cafe certainly comparing it with the competition nearby.
An example - I paid over £3:00 for a latte at the top of the hill and here it's £2:00.
The food is plentiful and there's a fair selection of choices ranging from breakfasts to burgers salads etc.
From my time here it offered a clean and attentive place to grab a drink or a meal.
On a budget? Or just want something different from the cost-a-lot chain's? Then if you are in the city I'd say seek out this place it's only just off the main drag (literally just off) but is good value and worth the visit.
I don't think they have wheelchair access but there is outside seating.
The staff will have a chat with you too!
Nice spot,...
