We have recently moved to Lincolnshire for almost 3 months now and we had no time to go out due to refurbishing the house. We finally finished the refurbishment and we went to Lincoln to celebrate, specifically to this restaurant as we are Brazilians and we wanted to check out what could be our at least weekly dine out and have some Brazilian food. I called the restaurant to ask if it was dog friendly as there are so many dog-friendly restaurants around and our dog can’t stay home alone, so we just go to dog-friendly places. The lady that answered the phone confirmed to us the dog would be allowed in and out. When we got there, we could not take the dog inside and we got upset as we asked first and were told we could. We were told to seat outside in very uncomfortable high bar sits and small tables and the menu for people seating outside was restricted, so we could not have what we wanted for the main. Still, we stayed and got an alternative food, but specifically, I wanted to have coxinha as a starter which we order, but I forever waited and it never came. Before the food arrives, we were told to pay before having the food as we were seated outside, meaning that they were afraid we run away without paying, we felt very uncomfortable and upset. We left to celebrate and relax and we ended up getting more stress. When the food came, it didn’t have anything Brazilian at all. It had bland meat without salt or seasoning and chips with very limited ketchup for two people, the pork had the taste of old and spoiled with no salt or seasoning, and the wing which I love, didn’t look good, so I didn’t try, it was a little jelly. No Brazilian anything, there was no rice, no beans, no “farofa”, no salad and the food was not presentable on the plate. We wanted to order more drinks or a dessert before, but we didn’t feel comfortable or welcome to order anything else, we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I gave all my food to the dog and even the dog was not smiling. The whole experience for me was a nightmare, from the moment someone gave false information, to the moment, they assumed we could leave without paying as we were seating outside, when we only sat outside because we were not allowed in, to the moment the unpresentable, untasted and not Brazilian food came to the table, there is nothing Brazilian there, not even a spoon of farofa or rice, it lacks character, authenticity, customer service is really bad and I feel very unwelcomed. It was my first time in Lincoln, but I had such a bad experience, I would not come back there to a place where people make us feel down and unappreciated. I gave my honest review to the waiter, saying I felt uncomfortable with all the details from my time there and the cook came to take to us. The cook was a gentleman, he works in the kitchen and offered more food, but unfortunately, it was unwanted as I gave my plate to the dog and I went home to eat my instant noodles. Frustrating and a very bad experience, I did not expect to be so unwelcome in a Brazilian restaurant like that. My experience in every detail was a nightmare, a disaster, frustrating and traumatizing. I am sharing so that perhaps the owners can stop making themselves ashamed as Brazilian and improve their customer service, and manners and start to be a little more authentic, Brazilian. There was nothing special on my plate that made me feel like eating brasilian, only cheap meat and chips, nothing special, nothing Brazilian, the atmosphere was bad bad bad, not Brazilian, so quite a lot to improve for native Brazilians at least. Not a Brazilian...
Read moreI am appalled. I recently visited Samba Brazil and had an absolutely terrible experience. I ordered the soy vegetable skewers, but instead received a completely different meal that was a disgrace. What I got was a plate with store-bought oven chips, a large amount of sad coleslaw, a single leaf of lettuce, and some awful, raw, likely air-fried halloumi chunks that were inedible. For reference I am a uni student so this was going to be a treat and furthermore I know what air fried food looks like!!
To make matters worse, the service was horrendous. No one came to check on us throughout the meal, never asking if we needed more drinks or how the food was. I ended up waiting 15 minutes longer than the rest of my party for the worst meal I've ever had. When I raised this with the waitress and asked for a discount, she said she'd speak to her manager, but because I had eaten most of my meal, I wasn't eligible for any discount. Had she come to check on me earlier, I would have pointed out the issue immediately, but instead, I ended up sharing my inedible halloumi with others at the table to show them how bad it was, I ate my chips and coleslaw, because in my opinion understandably I was hungry and had waited 50 mins for my food compared to the 35 mins of the rest of my party. By the time I received my food some of my party were pretty much finished. I ended spending £16 on my main meal and £8 on a mojito. (Photo reference at the bottom)
I also learned that the reason my skewers had no vegetables was because "not enough people order them," so they don't bother ordering in the ingredients. When I asked to speak to the manager, the waitress had no idea when they would be around.
I will never return to Samba Brazil, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If I could give it a 0/5, I would. Avoid...
