If you are familiar with Wagamama restaurants then the first part of this review shouldn't surprise you; clean, well presented benches and tables at which to eat your ordered food, delivered to the table in whatever order it is prepared by the Asian-fusion kitchen.
The Wagamama at Lincoln boasts being on the Brayford Pool, not just overlooking the water like the other restaurants and bars on the Brayford, but over it; it can make for a very attractive place to eat and relax whether inside or on one of the outdoor tables.
On this particular occasion the three of us were greeted and waited-on by our server, Rae for some lunchtime food. Two (vegan) adults and one (picky eater) eight year old were given a choice of where to sit as the space was only just starting to fill. Rae was excellent; she accommodated our orders, requests and changes impeccably, assuring us that the kitchen would have no problem tayloring some of the plates to suit our (picky eight year old) needs. Rae was also open and engaging but never past the point of being intrusive.
Our (adult) order consisted of a range of sides, main dishes and accompaniments, all of which were from the vegan selection and all of which were delicious. The timing of our visit seemed to also be quite fortunate as an apparent and imminent menu change meant that we were offered a small number of newer, soon-to-be items, including steamed gyoza. When the opportunity arose, the kitchen staff attended our table to ask how (all of) our food was which, personally for us, was welcome.
The TLDR version is: we were warmly welcomed and settled; interesting views of Lincoln's Brayford Pool while we ate; what we ate was well tasty.
As I type this, our eponymous eight year old has just shouted through from another room, "give them infinity out of five."
I probably should have...
Read moreVery disappointed!!! Visited for the first time last night for date night with my husband. We have wanted to visit wagamama for sooo long and though we would finally get dressed up and visit. ....really wish we hadn't to be honest!! When we got there we gave our name and had a 10-15 minute wait which we didn't mind (but the entrance was very crowded and the heater was directly blowing on us very Very warm! (To say this place has just been refurbished they should've really thought about a better waiting area!) We were called to our table and were shocked to have to sit on shered benches in very close proximity to our fellow guests (I found this very uncomfortable) ordered our drinks and then our food which we hadn't really a clue what was what as we'd never been but ordered starters and a main....the main came before the starters! And were then told unless we ordered it as a starter the food would all cone together....why put it on the menu as a starter if it doesn't come as a starter?? My husband's starter was not to either of our tastes and my husband ate his to 'save face' as it came rare and cold...assuming it would be warm and different to what it was...menu wasn't very clear. Mine was ok but very oily!!...as I found when the oil dropped all on my new skirt and stained it! The mains were a katsu chicken curry...the chicken was extremely tough and chewy!! And the rice very bland. I swapped with my husband who had the noodles and chicken...Very bland and again very oily! I barely ate much of it. The waiter asked if it was ok as they do...My reply was a little hazy...shrugged shoulders and an 'its ok'. The waiter never asked anymore...I felt daft complaining with having strangers so close beside me so we just paid and left and both of us said we would not return again unfortunately. Very very...
Read moreWell, lets start with the drinks.
Firstly, 2 drinks arrived. Then, after being prompted to a frankly rude member of staff, the rest of the tables drinks arrived. The member of staff did not apologise in a way in which we, a table of people who work/have worked in customer services, would find appropriate. He claimed that he was stressed due to being new and inexperienced, after swearing at the person clearly celebrating a birthday. Do you guys even train your staff? We never saw this staff member again after the drink debacle, so we can only imagine what was said back in the kitchen.
Before the drinks arrived, one of the main meals arrived. Before everyone's starters. Some of which we didn't get in the end.
10 minutes later more food and drinks appeared, with no apologies.
Some of the food arrived after a lot of people had almost finished eating, with apologies from someone more experienced. This food was taken off our total bill.
I've awarded 2 stars because the food was actually quite nice, especially since I personally have never had anything like it before. However, a number of our group agree that the food wasn't very warm.
A table next to us complained to another member of staff about their meal here.
I for one will not be recommending this place. First time, last time.
I can't say the same for my company as they are (were) all fans of wagamama.
Sort it out.
Lincoln has a plethora of students coming in and out, surely you can interview some who have customer service experience.
Also, there was no toilet roll...
