What an unexpected surprise. I've not been here for a very long time, and now a regret it. I wish I'd gone back sooner. Firstly, I'll waitress Imogen was amazing and we asked for recommendations which she loved and recommended the calazoni and a pasta dish. We had the pasta dish, the manzo then my partner decided to have a pizza stormboli with added salami and pancetta. The manzo was full of flavour ,so delicious, stormboli at the extra toppings my partner said it was the best pizza he's ever had and he is the fussiest man. For side we just have some chips , roasting hot. Not greasy at all. Perfect size for side for 2. I have to say the service we received from Imogen was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, helpful. Great communication fun. Also second staff member very chatty talking to my partner but it's top again. Great communication and customer service. And on the way out my partner the fussiest man on earth complemented the man that made his pizza so well done to ask.
Gutted on returning visit... We noticed a different chef in the kitchen, the one we had last time was sat having his break... But the meal was ok just not as good. We had the same meal my manzo wasn't as tasty something was missing... in comparison to the last picture think it was the sauce... I'm no chef so I can't tell you, The overall meal was ok I would return on the first visit alone, This was my daughter's first visit sadly she...
Read moreBeware of the tipping scam, visited today the staff were excellent very polite very helpful , we ordered our food and it was fine, the sweet came and mine was cold and so returned it, when it came back it was barely warm but I didn't want to complain again and so I said it was ok. The staff were very apologetic and said the sweet was free, I was happy with how the staff dealt with everything. When I came to pay the bill was around £45 I presented my card and it said would you like to make a charity donation, I pressed no. (I donate to charities separately from food chains) when the transaction was complete I mentioned that there was no option for me to leave a tip, the waitress said it was automatically deducted and pointed to some small print at the bottom of the menu. Reading the small print it said there was an optional choice for leaving a tip, but it wasn't optional they had taken it anyway £4.17. Although I was happy to leave a tip I complained about the way this had been done, to me this was underhanded, who reads the small print on a menu, and anyway it said optional not automatic deduction. The waiter said this was the new way of taking tips and was driven from head office, I'm not sure if this is true or not but because of the underhanded way it was done we won't be visiting again on principle, I don't like being...
Read moreI very rarely give less than 3 stars because I like to see the glass half full. But my wife and I decided to go have dinner at Ask Italian for the first time tonight; I have never been so disappointed by a restaurant in all my life. I ordered the King Prawn and Crayfish tagliatelle. It can with 3 prawns, one in its shell and two de-shelled; all of them were cold, the "creamy sauce with tomatoe" was just a very average tomato sauce, and there was absolutely NO Crayfish at all, not a single piece and I actively looked for it. I am tempted to say the best part of the meal was the drink, but the coke was flat, so my meal literally had no redeeming features. My wife had the asparagus and pancetta tagliatelle, she said she could barely taste the asparagus, and thought there was probably not more than one stem used in the dish. Add to that the fact that the pasta was so undercooked that it gave her indigestion, and you can be sure she enjoyed her meal as much as I enjoyed mine. The service was fine, but the table was really sticky, the cutlery was dirty, watermarks and little bits of dry food on the handles. All in all, an absolutely terrible dinner. Would not recommend under any circumstances and will not be returning to Ask Italian...
