The Dandy Lion — Restaurant in Lincoln

Unfortunately we left here very disillusioned. We had previously enjoyed the bar however this time it appears they have decided to make up their own rules, and implement them without discretion or fairness.

We arrived as two couples, and planned to have another couple join us after an hour. This is COMPLETELY within the government rules, and indeed other tables of six were seated around the place.

However despite having already spent around£100 we were told we couldn't do that as it was against their own (nonsense) rules. We even asked for clarification that if we had arrived together as a six we would've been ok to sit together and they said yes!

We left and went across the road to a lovely little jazz bar, who were more than happy to have our custom. I suggest you do the same.

These are difficult times for the hospitality industry and I'm afraid only the very good will survive. This pub in particular has struggled in the past, with several names and owners in a short period of time, and unfortunately, with a bad attitude like this, particularly from the taller of the two guys who seemed to be running it, I suspect it won't be long before it fails again.

A very boring experience: as I walked in it looked promising however the member of staff at the bar didn’t seem interested. There were 3 different menus just for drinks and the cocktail menu was incredibly generic. When ordering some gins both drinks had different garnishes to what they said they came with and when asking for tonic it was brought out and cap removed before being offered a choice. I had a look at the food (no menus for food or drink were outside) and saw anemic chips on one table and another table that had left what looked like a considerable portion so decided against eating. A pretty venue with potential but it needs some menu tweaks (as in less of them!) and slightly more engaging staff. Glad we tried it but I won’t be promoting it against other...

We had a fantastic evening here during a couple of days visiting Lincoln. The pub itself has lovely decor, everything was clean, drinks were very reasonable (we didn’t eat) with some great offers on shots as well. The owner and manager were friendly and fun, and incredible singers themselves 🤩 The locals were smiley and welcoming. We were drawn in by the karaoke and just had the best evening. My husband has always enjoyed singing but has never taken the karaoke plunge before- he was encouraged and applauded, as was everyone who sang.
