Visited the ship and mitre on a Saturday night and it was busy at 5:45pm. The beer selection was huge - including bottles. They had low alcohol options too on draught, including a 2.2%, 3.2% and 3.7%. We ordered a meal and the service was through a hatch which is convenient. And the food was all brought within 20 min which was great! The scouse stew was amazing - so rich and everything was melting in your mouth. The bread was super fluffy and soft with a good amount of butter ! The sausage currywurst was delicious too, I just wished it was even bigger - would probably get a different stew next time. We upgraded the side of fries to be the loaded salt and pepper fries and they were very tasty - a bit too salty at times but delicious flavours and perfectly cooked fries. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because there were parts of the pub that smelled a bit but the pub was bustling and has great history (open since 1822), and delicious food.

The Ship & Mitre is a interesting pub that’s well worth a visit, offering one of the broadest selections of ales you’ll find in the area, from local cask favourites to an impressive choice of world beers. The food is equally worth mentioning, with a menu that balances classic pub dishes with hearty meals perfect for pairing with a pint. The staff are polite, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to try, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Inside, the venue has plenty of character and charm, with a lively yet relaxed feel that makes it ideal for both groups and solo visitors. The Ship & Mitre blends great beer, good food, and a friendly vibe into a fab pub experiences.

If there is a heaven for beer lovers then you should probably end up here when you shuffle off the mortal coil, i have never seen so much beer in my life! there is everything here you could possibly get your mitts on! the real ale selection is phenomenal and the beers from the rest of the world range is one of the biggest ive seen! checkout the Kwak with its glass and stand that needs a deposit should you control over glass be overcome by gravity.

The food is as good as pub food gets and by that i means its wonderful! come through the door and the smell from the kitchen grabs you straight away even, but your in Liverpool so grab a bowl of scouse! dont forget to checkout the upstairs area if you can for its Art Deco decoration, you can pretend you've had a few drinks and are stuck in Rapture, minus the big daddies and splicers! if your in Liverpool for a weekend or as a student and your having a pub crawl or a free afternoon go to visit you will not be...

I am always getting told that this is the place to be for a good pint. After frequenting the place since student days where it was a daily ritual to get our lunch there for a pound and have a pint before afternoon lectures to these days where I'm afraid this pub has lived up to the name and forgotten about the reputation for good beer. Over recent years there has not been once where I can say I've had a nice beer. There seems to be this modern day pandering to the brew dog mentality.... Beer should not be over hopped to the point of battery acid and it certainly should not taste of citrus, elderflower or any other undrinkable nonsense. Just stop it and get a decent beer on, after all there are plenty of pumps there, or other...
