Shenanigans — Restaurant in Liverpool

Son started University in Liverpool in September and nipped in for a drink on last visit to see him, his accommodation is literally just round the corner on Hatton Garden. Really good welcome, even for a Manc to Liverpool !! Had a good vibrant feel, top Irish bar, looks a little deceptive when walking in as appears to be compact with the bar and tables really close, but the pub itself is over 2 floors and a roof bar terrace so plenty of seating, bar on first floor too. Lot of Irish memorabilia round the walls and ceiling, plus TVs showing football creating a good atmosphere. The Guinness was good and there was a regular flow of custom, visitors and locals, plus there were a number of students so a mixed age group of people. This place can be a favourite with students who may quickly fill the place after a lecture and make it pretty busy, or it can be nice a chilled. It's a small, friendly bar, selling an impressive range of quirky and quality drinks. It is decorated with all things Irish, but in the way that a homesick person might with flags and sports - there is not a leprechaun in site! Food is very simple and cooked using a couple of appliances at the side of the bar rather than a kitchen but they pull it off well and it fills a gap when you're hungry. I've visited Liverpool last year and am visiting it now and I've been to Shenanigans both times on mutliple occasions and each and everytime there were positive interactions with some of the patrons. For instance, the first time we were there, two guys invited us to sit at their table as others were taken, and we were drinkingand hanging out until closing times, also once we attended a pun quiz and the winning team shared the prize money(some credit for the bar) with us and one other team that participated.
