First time trying this place and it has made a good first impression. Ordered the carvery which is £9.95 weekdays but £7 on Mondays which is a great deal. The carvery had beef, gammon and turkey and all were cooked well and seasoned well. Then all the vegetables where cooked perfect and seasoned perfect and with chicken or beef gravy to choose from. It really went down a treat and will be back to try other menu items. Minor gripes, one tiny tiny pig in blanket with the carvery it was about the size of half your little finger it was so cute. And the single stuffing ball was gone in one bite. But I suppose they want you to upgrade to the more meat and yorkies and pigs in blanket for a couple of quid more. Fair enough profits are thin these days. But it really was a lovely meal. All the staff seemed happy in general it was sound. Quite large pub with loads of space and a beer garden. Will becoming back to try the all you can eat breakfast buffet. .

Usually I would give the cookhouse a great review but I must admit I was highly disappointed last time I went. I'm not knocking the service because as usual this was excellent. Very friendly staff. All started off well with the delicious box of nachos. They were covered in melted cheese, jalapeños, olives, tomato salsa and sour cream. Well worth the £9.95 price tag. The disappointment started with the main dish I had, mixed grill. And as you can see by the picture, it was definitely wasn't worth the £15.99 price. And make it worse the I nearly choked on the steak. It was that chewy and full of fat. When I complained I was told that they were using a different supplier and they have had a lot of complaints about it already . If that was the case why continue to serve it. I wasn't offered any discount or offered a replacement..sorry to give you guys a bad review because usually I'm more then happy with ur pub restaurant.

We went for a Sunday roast and it was tasty but not the best, one thing I liked was the turkey, the rest it was pretty simple and plain, lack of seasoning was my opinion. But it was decent, it was a very busy place and everyone was running around and also they had super loud pop music (as loud as a night club) and it was very hard to even have a conversation with my husband. A lot of young friendly people working there but it was too hectic ad stressful atmosphere, not relaxing at all. Loud and overwhelming

For a birthday meal I booked a table for 12 people for 6.30pm. The venue was not very busy. Our order for starters and mains was eventually taken from us at about 7.15pm. The sign on the wall had offer of "oaps carvery deal", was something my parents wanted to order. "Sorry the carvery is off tonight" I had to pay for the order in advance which I thought was strange. At 8 pm nothing had arrived. 10 starters came out around 8.10pm. 2 people were left with no food whilst others finished theirs. The two starters that had been forgotten came out at least 15 mins late. We had to chase the order. They then came out after everyone else had finished. We waited further for the mains. At about 9 pm a server came over with a puzzled look asking "have you had your meals" "no" we all replied. He thought we had finished. At this point most of the pub had all food cleared from tables and seemed to be emptying. Food started to come out. My wife received a near empty plated with a small piece of chicken, a thin layer of cheese and thin slice of bacon. The dish looked pathetic. If I had paid £3 I would have been complaining, but this was £11! I wish I had taken a photo. It was awful. My mother in law received a steak salad. The steak was stone cold. In fact most people's food was stone cold but it turned out everyone was too polite to say anything. My 5 year old was left with nothing as the food brought out. I asked to see the manager. The manageress first addressed the pathetic chicken and bacon slice. "Have you tried it?" " It's one of our most popular dishes" I said just look at it, that's awful. She addressed the salad "it's meant to be cold, it's a salad" She touched the steak to check and agreed it was indeed ice cold and she apologized. "Where is my son's food?" She chased the order. I had to give him most of mine as he was wondering why others had food and he did not. The went back to kitchen and cooked him a kids chicken nuggets and chips that they had completely forgotten about. Everyone else had finished by the time his came out.

Everyone was really fed up, I was embarrassed for choosing this venue for food. The atmosphere was dreadful due 100% to the poor service from the cookhouse.

The manageress offered refunds on my wife and mother in law's food and my son's food. £30 refund from £163 food bill She gave a £50 voucher of next visit for food, but I will never set food inside there again. I should have demanded a full refund for the full bill. It was a dreadful evening, a terrible birthday meal. I get the impression that the chef was off and someone was covering in the kitchen who had absolutely no competence in making or getting hot meals out in time for a large table. I suspect if there was only 4 of us it would not have been an issue. The experience was dreadful.

While we were still eating others plates were taken as you could tell they wanted the tables cleared asap.

I felt I needed to apologise to my family for such a bad night. Steer well clear if you want a meal for a large group. Or just stay clear and save yourself a waste of money My worst meal...
