Holdi has, in the past, been excellent and the first choice for many family meals - often for celebratory purposes such as tonight - but recently it has gone extremely downhill in terms of service. Tonight's experience has unfortunately marred their legacy and we will no longer be visiting.
The restaurant no longer seems able to keep up with the sheer amount of visitors it allows onsite at any given time, leading to delays and frequent errors as staff run around trying to maintain things - with no clear lack of organisation.
Our party of four was sat at a table for six, and given no indication of who would be looking after our table. We had to ask for a drinks menu as none was provided after we were seated and four menus hastily thrown onto the table.
After ordering drinks, we then asked for a jug of tap of water and four glasses. We had to repeat this request four more times throughout the meal to different members of staff, and eventually (after we already ordered and had sundries and starters by this time) a jug of water and only two glasses were agressively placed onto the table with no apologies.
The waiter who took our food order was rude, and incredibly slow to write down each item, and would move onto the next person without asking or waiting to hear about side requests. No care was given to ensuring the order was correct - which led to a mistake in one of the rices later on.
At no point during the evening were we asked how our food was, if we wanted any more drinks, nor was any other attention or care given to us by any member of staff - who would frequently gather in groups around nearby tables and be heard bickering amongst themselves. On two occasions we saw parties who had already been seated asked to move to accomodate larger groups by moving tables. This was incredibly unprofessional to witness.
We waited close to an hour before asking where are main courses were up to, and when they did finally arrive we received no apologies for the delay, and there was a mistake with one of the rices - which they did replace but did not apologise for. This correction was not on the bill itself either.
Overall just a horrendously unenjoyable experience. They just seem to care about getting as many people in as possible, with zero care for...
Read moreWe attended the Holdi in woolton village on Saturday 9th November 2024. It was for my mums 80th birthday. We are all vey disappointed in the service.... When some of the party arrived the table was not even sorted for 630pm. We asked for drinks and two were missed off despite us asking several times where the two missing drinks were. 20min later they said they forgot to write them down we asked for poppadoms and chutneys the 3 sets of chutneys were brought over but no poppadoms. Again we kept asking and asking but all they kept asking us was are we ready to order food we kept saying no as we were waiting for two more people. There was about 6 different waiters asking us the same questions over and over again. Then when we did order food they was bringing the wrong food to our table and when we told them that we had not ordered any of them starters they kept ot saying we did. After all the food had been served and eaten they then did not ask was we ready for the birthday cake they bought it out without warning so had no time to take a picture of my mum with the cake let alone move an 8 monyh old baby out of the way as they pushed their way to my mum without any consideration for any one close to the sparkling candles. They need to have just 3 staff per table as they were getting orders mixed up for tables and confusing themselves...
Read moreI ordered a lobster for my main with no problems, then the waiter comes over ten minutes after I've ordered my food and tells me "The prices have changed and the lobster has gone up in price, but we have not updated the prices on the menu" (the lobster on the menu was £21). So I say "thats fine how much is it then" expecting it to have gone up to about £25, and to my surprise the waiter says "£35" I thought to myself, have they caught sebastian the lobster from little mermaid and brought him here just for me? No they hadn't, I thought this because that is the only reason I could understand the £14 jump in price but no, to my disappointment it was just a plain old lobster with no reason or warning of a steep jump in price. If a steak was £7 on the lable in the supermarket and then I get to the till and it scans up as £21, they would have to match the price due to false advertising but not in Holdi, no, terrible customer service on there part. In conclusion, don't charge a different price than the menu states, get the menus updated before you plan to sell an item. And to top it off I woke up at three AM and plastered my toilet with little sebastian from both ends,...
