I attended with my wife and 2 of our close friends whom had never been to LunyaLita before. My wife and I have eaten there many times over the years. As someone who has eaten there many many times before and always loved it and were excited to introduce our friends to this restaurant.
We had booked a table in advance and when we arrived we asked if we could have a window seat as the place was pretty empty, to which we received a very rude and blunt answer of no despite the window seating area being empty (there was no option to reserve a window seat during booking). But anticipating how good the the food would be we srugged this off and sat down where we were allocated.
When looking at the menu we were very disappointed to see that the menu had changed a lot, particularly noting that the Catalan Souse is no longer on the menu much to my disappointment and surprise. When my wife asked the waiter about whether the resturant still served this dish, he was very rude in his response.
I felt that the menu had less to offer than it once did. When we ordered the Dirty Bravas I was sad to see that it was not potatoes but was chips, which I was shocked about as I had looked online whipst in the restuarant to understand the change in menu and from what I read it was because LunyaLita was moving towards a more authentic menu.
I noted that the size of the dishes brought out were significantly small than they use to be and the quality of the food was very poor compared to what my wife and I had been use to on our many visits before over the years.
We had ordered the croquets which you could taste the oil they had been cooked in; this was not pleasant and I was not able to finish them. The same was with crispy chicken we ordered, I could not bring myself to eat it and my wife also struggled. Over all the rest of the items we ordered, very much so, lacked in flavour.
But to further add upset, whilst my wife was very obviously still eating (with food in mouth and still on her plate with knife and fork in hand) a waiter came over and said abruptly "you done with that" and reaching for the plate at the same time before she could answer. My wife did not feel comfortable in saying no as he was already lifting the plate away. It felt more like we're were an inconvenience despite the restaurant not being busy on this particular day at that particular time. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience that ruined the end to a very nice day.
I was very much in shock with this visit as we have never been treated rudely before on previous visits to this resturant. On previous visits we have alway found the staff to be very pleasant and welcoming and the food has previously always been fantastic. I'm very sad to say this experience has put my wife and I off returning and we do not plan to return in the future and would not recommend to friends or family...
Read moreCertain items of food were abysmal no love had been shown whilst been cooking it.
The service however was nothing short of appalling. Not attentive.
When food was actually delivered to the table after having to ask twice for menus.
She placed the food on the table they’re was no interaction ( ie we said thanks ) never once did she say enjoy or don’t need more drinks.
The manager delivered the last plate of albondigas she was brilliant.
We ordered some drinks two pints of Rosa blanca. I’ve drank this beer on holiday and it was flat and distasteful.
I mentioned this to the server she changed them for estrella.
Upon paying for the bill they had charged us for drinks.
I challenged the bill as the beer wasn’t how it should have tasted.
The lady behind the bar with brown short curly and tattoos obviously doesn’t know how to pour a pint. The manager kindly tried to rectify this as the manager was speaking to myself.
The lady with short curly brown hair and tattoos intervened rudely a few times she has a disgusting attitude and is quite confrontational I told her I’m not speaking to you I’m speaking to your manager.
She soon piped down it was almost like she was waging for a physical fight.
Quite the idiot she was really ( I’m self employed and run my own business if this member of staff worked for my they would be getting a disciplinary or struck off ) no enthusiasm.
The staff front of house need to be reviewed or talked to about certain behaviours.
Very unprofessional.
I Won’t be back infact the lunya on hanover street is far better and I’ll using that one in future.
I spend a fair bit of money in the lunya market on hanover store.
You’ve lost my faith...
Read moreFood was very poor, not fresh at all. Paella was cheap frozen with terrible taste, I will say the worst paella in my life and we have been many times all over Spain including Barcelona, that’s not even close to paella. £20 per person that. Meat tapas was £35 and was terrible as well, very small quantity and cheap quality! We had 3 pints and 1 glass of wine. That’s all! On top of the bad food the bill was £180 for 4 people and they included donation charge, without bother asking us. Only good thing about it was the waiter he was a nice lad.
All in all every customer there was because next to them there is an Italian restaurant, which was fully booked and people go to the next available restaurant, but please don’t make this mistake, you will regret it. It was smelling bad in the restaurant and before leaving I went to toilet, the chef was taking a shit and I am not joking it smelled really bad, he came out the door and I am not sure if he even washed his hands!
After leaving we got 2 pizzas for take away from the next door restaurant which was our first choice. The pizzas were really amazing, but I will say it again if the next door Italian restaurant is fully booked just try any other restaurant maybe but not this Catalonian as it’s not thing Catalonian in it and I would say that’s maybe the worst restraint I have been in my life and I don’t normally bother...
