We arrived for a family birthday meal according to the booking confirmation 15 minutes early making it 15:45 as the table was booked for 4pm. When I ordered my first lot if drinks i needed to kerp adding them. The server was huffing and persistently looking at his watch. I assume he was finishing at 4pm as i didnt see him after. I felt vert awkward and found it very unprofessional. I had to ask twice for the food as we were asked to pre order. The food was not served until over an hour after we arrived. When the starters were served we were sent 2 adult cheesy garlic breads not kids. Thus was quickly rectified on the bill. However I find it very hard to believe it could be wrong when everything was sent in writing. I had to go and find my own cutlery for all 14 parties as this had not been put on the table. Along with all serviettes. The waiting staff did not serve the food to the correct people or even try. It was passed to one member of our party who served it accordingly because they didn't. When they served the mains again these were served to one person to sort out and distribute to the correct people in our party. The quality of the mains was shocking. 2 meals consisted steak that was cold. The chips were soggy. The mixed grill was freezing cold. The steak was cold. The chicken and the pork was rock solid and thr sausage were raw and not cooked. The double cheese burger was also freezing cold. The puddings were them served again to one person to distribute according. 2 sticky toffee Puddings were served 10 minutes before the rest of everyone else's. The munchies sundaes had no/little ice cream and filled with just cream. Our party should be been well prepared for as pre orders were provided as requested for by the venue. We were appaled and quite frankly disgusted in not only the food but the service provided on the day. We had booked this venue as per the bill boards advertising children's face painting from 3-5 and live music from 5pm hence the reason the table was booked for 4pm. There was no live music at 5 and no entertainment for the kids even though that's what had been advertised. It took over 15 minutes to get served for any drinks. I'm addition to this we have had the person served to cheese burger sick last night. The 2 people with the steaks with an upset tummy and the person from the mixed grill also unwell. This was a birthday party booked to utilise thr entertainment for both the children and adults. Meal choices were sent to make it straight forward in order for the venue to be prepared yet nothing was organised and not as advertised. As an addition we have 4 unwell people following a visit to your establishment. We had spent a figure close to £400 to be sick, not served the right food, the service to be appalling, served raw food, a 15 minute wait at the bar for every round qnd to be grossly dissatisfied and disappointed in the false advertising for the entertainment. This is completely inadequate and has affected the health of 4 parties. I had also been asked to pay a deposit if £60 for the booking. When the bill was obtained this hadn't been deducted. If this was not questioned we would have paid...

AVOID!!!!!!!!!!

We visited the Black Bull as a family last weekend. We had just done a 5 mile walk to raise money for charity, with the route ending at the Black Bull. We were all wearing the charity T-shirts & it was clear we were doing it for a good cause. We where in a large group but it was a Saturday afternoon with golf, football & boxing on, so you would expect it to be quite busy, well it was absolutely dead until we arrived, & there was a few family members waiting for us to cross the finishing line. We had previously tried to book out one of the rooms (we have proof of this) but where told they don’t do that, anyway, all in all there was about 25 adults & 5 kids, the whole pub didn’t even have 50 people in it, that’s including us!! The staff were absolutely disgusting to people when anyone from our group was trying to order at the bar, they were met with a bad attitude, & terms like “are you with that group!?” & it wasn’t said politely!! Other customers where told, in front of us, that no food was available to order because of “that group of people turning up unexpectedly” even tho we had tried to book a room & told them we where finishing the charity walk there previously. The staff where awfully rude to the kids also. A lot of the people in our group are regulars at The Black Bull & they where still treated poorly by staff. It really did put a sour taste on what was supposed to be a happy memorable day raising money for a brain tumour charity. & all the tables where sticky aswell as 2 toilets overflowing in the men’s & women’s toilets. POORLY RUN PUB, BAD MANAGEMENT, CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING NEEDED....

Just like to comment on the amazing staff and management and how they have they engaged and served me over the last two years. I always book tables 24/25 as I meet my old boys 86 plus and they like to sit near the bar and the toilets. Usually there’s 4 of us but on the odd occasion we have more friends joining and it’s easy to spot us near the bar.. I love the new menu and we always have crisps and snacks as the night goes on. The last couple of weeks it’s been very busy and even though the reserved sign is displayed and for everyone to see some customers like to hide the sign or move it and they take offence and have to be asked to move by myself or the staff. Last week it was very funny because due to my knee op I was running late as I like to walk up to the blackbull , well when I walked in I had a glance at the table and to my surprise Dave the manager had decided to put black & yellow tape on the tables so he could prove the table had been reserved and this was highlighted so everyone could see this. We certainly had a laugh over this and I said to Dave I would like the black & tape every week. Me and my friends have been coming here over two years now we used to go over the road to the brown cow but we found we couldn’t talk and have a pint and relax , so we look forward to our Friday nights. The management run a tight ship here and the staff are always on the friendly and professional especially Megan and Aimee and the choice of food is great no forgetting the food & drink vouchers which I’ve managed to...

Had nice meals, mixed grill and scampi, the real ale was well kept, good pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Nice surroundings tastefully decorated and staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside is that dogs are only allowed in till 7pm. This has stopped us from going on many occasions as we have to be mindful of the deadline and it's not relaxing. I have checked a few times to see if his personality changes at 7pm but no, he is still well behaved and friendly so don't understand the rule. Otherwise well worth a visit.

Would not recommend table was booked on phone but got told to sit anywhere most items on menu not available same with starters vegetables very cold told staff who said they would take it away i said its fine I would just eat the rest of my food and leave them to side staff came back with bowl of hot vegetables but basically shoved it on my table and said there , never got any sort of apology very disappointed after spending £140 for food and drink
