Donât bother booking a party here. I had a party booked for 8 months for it to be cancelled 2 months before the event. Also, they didnât tell me it was cancelled it was only when I called to pay the rest of my party. They also, lied and said the person who booked my party had booked in error and left. This was laughable when the same girl who booked the party emailed me my refund receipt after me chasing for 3 days. But apparently she had left a few months ago haha. I actually had a meeting with her in September for the party to be cancelled in November. Iâve seen many other reviews on Facebook of bad experiences when having parties at the Sandon. A lot of people have said the staff and management make things up, so they donât have to refund deposits. They make enough money as it because theyâre so far up Liverpool football clubs arse! They make out they do all these great things for the community and people in need yet keep deposits, lie, and let local people down. Hopefully someone decent takes it over and sorts out what was once a great pub. Iâd imagine they have been offered more money hence why my party was cancelled, apparently it will be shut that day and was cancelled for staff to spend time with their family again. I have since struggled to find a venue and wonât be having a party now which has been sad for me...
Read moreAfter reading many reviews after booking the Sandon Hotel, I wasn't expecting much. We stayed here because of the close proximity to the stadium, and we wanted to be close for after the game. For what we needed, it was perfect, and as West Ham fans, we didn't get any trouble with having a drink downstairs. There is a lot of negativity about this place, but it really depends on what you're after and we weren't asked for deposit. But, if you're used to nice hotels with mod cons, etc, then this place isn't for you.
The hotel was noisy during the night with doors opening and closing, but we had a few, so it didn't bother us as we only stayed for one night. The beds were comfortable, and the sheets seemed clean, so we didn't have any issues. There are plenty of buses into town with a 25 min bus ride.
The entrance to the reception is a small red door on the side of the building, you may have to wait for it to be answered and the pubs are shut during the day which makes the place look derelict.
It's not your typical hotel, but all in all, we liked the place, and we will be staying here again for...
Read morePaid for tickets for the end of the season party...waited from 11am for 4pm kick off with three young kids. It gets to 4pm and the large screen switches over finally for the game then shows the blue screen. We missed the whole first half whilst staff behind the bar occasionally would attempt to sort it out (between serving drinks). No proper communication. No interest to making sure the fans experienced what they paid for. Half the screens in the building weren't showing the game properly - it properly killed the atmosphere. Definitely not managed well at all. It was also very overcrowded - the womens toilets had no handwash from the morning time and was not checked throughout the day. Would not recommend the end of season party at all - people said last year was the same. Clearly only interested in profit and not delivering the experience they promised - to be let down like this on what was meant to be such a joyous day is not acceptable for a venue that associates itself so...
