What an absolute little gem of a restaurant Acacus is. Libyan cuisine is somewhat of a rarity in London. Perhaps the unsung hero of the North African dishes, Libyan food packs a bigger punch in terms of spice, and Acacus was no exception. I went for a late lunch with a Libyan friend. I ordered the rushti, one of the most well known dishes from Libya. Service was prompt, waiter was very helpful and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful (very traditional music and plates/art etc). The food was fantastic. The rushti was cooked to perfection, the lamb was extremely tender, and the chilli served on top was a nice traditional touch. As a suggestion, perhaps ask customers if the sauce to accompany the lamb is wanted in a spicy or mild form (it wasn't bland, but I do like spice, perhaps more cayenne pepper). We were given on the house tea (no Baklawa, unfortunately) and the manager was very polite. Would highly recommend this place, my friend even used statements like "as good as my mother's", the highest form of a compliment. Will be visiting again soon, where I hope to get some of that...

Read moreThe overall vibe of the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the ambiance definitely added to the experience. The food was okay—not bad by any means, but nothing particularly memorable either. If you’re expecting standout flavours or something that sets it apart, you might leave a bit underwhelmed.
Service was a mixed bag. Our waiter, Ahmed, was excellent—attentive, friendly, and clearly trying his best to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately, that effort wasn’t matched by the rest of the team. The table runner was rude and sloppy, which left a bit of a sour impression. Also, water wasn’t served until quite late, which felt especially inconsiderate given that it was Ramadan and people were breaking their fast.
All in all, decent place with good potential, but the experience could definitely be improved with more consistent service and...
