🚇 Baker Street 🍺 £6.50 Mahou ❤️ A vintage Marylebone boozer. . The Barley Mow is located on elegant Dorset Street in the heart of Marylebone. The nearest tube is Baker Street which is a ten minute stroll away. . This pub was built in 1791 and is Grade II listed and is rumored to be the longest standing building in Marylebone. This pub is also a Freehouse which is very unique in this part of town. . The decor here is traditional and retains many features from the Victorian era. The interior is on Camra’s list of National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. The standout feature is the two private booths located at the bar. This is a perfect example of how, in times gone by, Londoners liked to drink in intimate, cosy surroundings. At the rear of the bar there is also a snug and dartboard. . The beer lineup was decent and there were three cask on at the time of visiting. I decided on a Mahou which is pronounced Mau not Mahoo, i was politely corrected in Bradley’s Spanish Bar a few months ago. This Spanish beer is a nice drop if a little pricey. The food here is full of that British staple, the pie. Pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy will set you back £13.50, there are meat, veggie and vegan options to choose from. . I visited just after opening on a Saturday, with the exception of a group of fellas at the bar who were off to a wedding, I had the place to myself. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, the acoustic soundtrack set a nice tone around the bar. Evenings are a more lively affair, there are quizzes, open mic nights and dart nights to keep you entertained. . The @thebarleymow_marylebone has it all! The building and primarily the decor are outstanding, a proper piece of old London. The beer was decent and the food hearty. There is plenty on to keep you engaged or you can pop in for a contemplating pint. This is definitely a must visit pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 30/07/22

Read moreWe came to pub for some drinks after a meeting around the corner around 7pm. Three of us arrived, ordered a round, and went outside for a smoke with our drinks. We had two issues tonight:
(1) Upon exit we were shouted at by the bouncer/goon that we cannot be outside as there are too many people. Seems that you should either curb your catering, or inform people via a sign that there is a limit and you can be asked to go inside (we would have skipped this pub).
(2) We finished our round outside and invited our colleague to come over for the next one before we head home. We ordered, and the one member of the party (who was with us when we ordered round 1) was told that she cannot be served because she could not produce ID (this is after she was already served). Understandable, but I mean really? Why did you serve us one round already? Anyways, another member of the party ordered drinks for the rest of us, and the barman (young man) can outside, took our drinks away, and told us to get lost. Three of us could have produced ID?
Honestly, I feel robbed of a fair amount of money paying for a disgusting service. I will never be caught dead in that pub again, and it will now be my benchmark for terrible service, huge egos, and pathetic conscientiousness. The group next to us outside broke a glass earlier in the evening, and they were left alone, but we were kicked out after paying, and doing no wrong?
I’d ask this pub for a refund of my 35 kwid, but given the previous reply by the owner of the pub to another review, I’m sure I’ll get some egotistical reply about how an ID could not be produced so we were completely in the wrong. If that’s the case, and you see this review, base your choice of pub carefully. This place is a sham and they DO NOT CARE about...
