I visited this restaurant after seeing it featured on The Apprentice. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. Upon arrival, we were made to feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. We had to ask whether we could sit down, and instead of a warm response, we were curtly pointed toward a table.
The table we were directed to was not exactly clean, next to another uncleared table—despite the restaurant being almost empty. Anisah, the Apprentice candidate, appeared overwhelmed with delivery orders and collections. Meanwhile, a man who seemed to be her father spoke loudly to other diners about having thrown out five customers the day before for swearing—a story that did little to enhance the atmosphere.
After waiting 35 minutes and repeatedly asking about our order, we were told how busy and successful the restaurant had been. At one point, we were even taken into the kitchen to be shown how many chefs had been hired to meet demand. I under this was meant to be friendly but really it was just completely unprofessional. When the food finally arrived, it turned out to be a basic Costco-style pizza base topped with Indian ingredients—something I’ve had many times from takeaway shops. It was far from impressive.
The overall experience was disappointing: poor customer service, a toilet without soap and a long wait for mediocre food. It took an hour to receive what was essentially a takeaway pizza.
Edit: Since I cannot reply I will edit my review and put it here. We were the only customers in the restaurant apart from a couple to our left who left shortly after and 3 ladies in the corner. I find it extremely disappointing you have fabricated that 'our group' (me and my friend)were disruptive. We were not disruptive in any way, we sat patiently waiting for our food. The only interactions we had with staff were asking about the wait time and if we could have the correct drinks that we ordered. There couldn't have been multiple complaints as there weren't enough people physically in the restaurant for their to be...
Read moreA rather unpleasant experience. I booked a table for two at this restaurant on 14th March 2024 we had booked via an app called “the fork” a trusted restaurant booking platform. There were deals for local restaurants which were offering a 50% discount on your meal (I imagine to entice customers into restaurants on weekdays) Akash Wallington was a participating restaurant. We made reservations and hopped in a cab to the restaurant.
We ordered and ate our meals. It came time to pay and the restaurant refused to honour the 50% discount. We produced our restaurant booking, we showed them the app they had signed up to which clearly displayed a -50%. The owner was unaware he was a participating member and subsequently blamed his daughter for signing up to this without his knowledge. The owner and waiter then made excuse after excuse as to why they would not allow 50% off our bill. The excuses were as follows…we didn’t say we had booked with the fork upon arrival, he didn’t know about this offer, his daughter signed him up the final excuse being this is “the forks “ error not ours. They reduced our bill from £75 to £56 but that’s not 50% off our original bill. We paid our bill, the owner then slammed the door behind us.
We subsequently contacted “the fork” who were apologetic and offered us 2000 yums, the equivalent of £50.
Akash are still signed up the fork and the 50% discount for the whole month of March. This is clearly misleading and warrants a notification to...
Read moreIt's a nice restaurant, spacious with pleasant decor. The staff were polite and unobtrusive, though not exactly welcoming. Pity about the food. We were served stale popadoms (changed for fresher ones on request, but you shouldn't have to ask!). The chutneys were disappointing, with plain onion (no tomato or herbs) and tasteless yoghourt. The tandoori chicken was succulent and a decent size but not very spicy. The bombay potatoes were nice, the only enjoyable dish we had. The vegetarian thali was disappointing: the spinach looked nice but had a strange taste which I suspect came from being cooked in stale fat; the pilau rice was just rice with fat added, no spice or extras. The onion bhajee was extraordinarily dry, as if it had been sitting in the oven for a week waiting for a customer to order it. And it didn't have taste of much either. When I had finished eating, the inside of my mouth felt as if it was coated in fat, which was a most unpleasant sensation. The naans were not the worst I have had but not the freshest, and had a strange lack of flavour. Usually I can't stop myself picking at any leftover naan when I have finished eating, but not this time. Not half as good as our usual local Indian restaurant, and more...
