We happened upon a little restaurant on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Northington Street, called Andrews Cafe. From the moment we walked in as the owner's son held the door open for us, I loved the place and can easily say it is my favorite in London so far. The mom and pop establishments hold a place near and dear to my heart since they remind me of my childhood spent in my family's restaurant. I immediately noticed the new flooring and fresh artwork, along with the cleanliness of the place. I made my way to use the facilities in the basement and found everything spotless and clean, smelling of bleach. The bathrooms looked like they were recently updated with new tile.

The menu choices were many with specials boards, a menu over the open kitchen and an extensive printed menu at the table. I haven't had shepard's pie yet and that was at the top of the special's board so it was an easy choice for me. It was a very generous portion of the pie with a very healthy serving of delicious fresh vegetables. My husband very much enjoyed his burger and fries. There are many more items on the menu that I would like to go back to try.

When we walked in, we didn't realize they would be closing at 2:00 p.m. We were welcomed in at 1:53 p.m. without hesitation. I know how it is at the end of the day, when you just want to get home, but at no time did we feel rushed out of the restaurant. In fact, we bantered with the children of the owner as they started their end...

I asked for Jacket potato With Bolognese and cheese. And No No salad or coleslaw whatsoever. They gave me a Jacket potato with bare bolognese and hardly any cheese and Gave me COLSLAW AND SALAD Therefore it was ruined! I was gutted. ALso I asked for 2 marble cake and they gave me 2 CHERRY BAKEWELLS!! I hate em. It's a shame. They were good as I've been going there since a kid. SInce they have moved food is Cr^p. Get the originals back in! If I could give this no stars I would. I checked the order before I left the actual shop. Told em they had my order wrong but they ushered me out of the shop. Basically threw me out and charged me 15 or slightly over for this. When I worked out it would be roughly 10. I was robbed. DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYMORE! STAFF ARE RUDE. AND THEY PUSH YOU...

Every now and then you find a place that just gets it right in every way.

They are so warm and friendly in here. A really nice energy and atmosphere.

Appreciate your customers and they’ll keep coming back, and in turn - make a good living and live a great life. - so many other places don’t understand this simple principle!

The food was exceptional. Really tasty and a true homage to the classic London greasy spoon. I always feel that if bubble and squeak is on the menu at a cafe, you’re in for a winner.

Also if you love proper bread, none of that cheap stuff, then this is your place.

I loved how the menu was designed in a way that you have lots of set options but you could make up your own breakfast easy.

A true gem and a...

It was a complete surprise to discover an old style working man's cafe in central London. I went around 10:00 am on a weekend morning. The cafe was crowded with tall burly men wearing shorts, boots and Tee Shirts bearing the names and logos of their employers. A steady stream of eggs, bacon, toast etc. emerged from the kitchen. I had the veggie brek which was excellent with the exception of the mushrooms which were clearly not fresh. In addition to the list of breakfast options, other meal options such as grilled lamb, spaghetti, shepherds pie etc. were available. Go here for excellent cheap food, especially fry ups. Not really a date venue

Any time I visit London for a trip around the city I always start my day at Andrew's!! So this is a long overdue review 😀 The breakfast is amazing. It is your classic English cafe breakfast but everything is done to perfection! The ingredients are all top quality, everything is cooked perfectly (always get 2 runny eggs) and you get very decent portions. My breakfast that I always order is the Andrew's Breakfast with extra hash browns and black pudding. Please every single one of the stuff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. If you are ever in London, this is worth a visit for breakfast

Great breakfast and very good prices but they brought the wrong coffee (ordered a mocha and got a cappuccino) and we ordered a tap water which never arrived. Also, they list their veggie options as “100% vegan” but they have eggs and cheese in them (I guess you can remove these to make them vegan idk? Wouldn’t trust they used vegan butter). So maybe not brilliant with dietary requirements but the food we got was brilliant.
