My stay at The Goodenough Hotel London has been my worst hotel experience ever, and that includes the hotel with a lone bedbug and another with unkept beds. The customer service was simply awful! We stayed as a much larger group on Saturday, October 14, 2023, where the rooms were not ready. All parties had to wait until 3:00pm "because that is check-in time" even when it was revealed that the rooms were in fact ready sooner. When we arrived around 11, we knew our room would not be ready, but we were told that it should be ready by 2:30. The wo young men (will come back to this later) offered to keep our luggage behind their desk. Great! Off to see some of London before dinner and ABBA. We arrived back at 2:15. I went to the office and asked "I know that you said there is a possibility the room would be finished by 2:30, and that I am a little earlier than that, but thought I would ask." I was told no that our room would not be ready until 3:00pm. Fine, not a problem. "May I have my luggage so I can change and get ready for dinner?" The young man with the Polish accent informed me "Your bag is in your room. I will go get it."
This is the following exchange: Me: "My bag is in the room, a room I cannot access?" Clerk: "Yes, our cleaning staff is there now." Me: "So, my personal bag has been removed from a secure, area placed into a room with cleaning staff, and I don't have access to it?" Clerk: "It's secure" Me: "For you it is, but not for me. I have zero access to my belongings while someone I did not approve is now in possession of." Clerk" "It's secure. Our cleaning staff is there." Me; "I did not agree to have my bag removed from your care where I can fully access it to be placed in a room with your staff member where I cannot access it." Clerk: "it's secure." Me: 'Please go get my bag."
I ask where I can get ready, he directs me to the water closet in an entirely different building. The water closet is about the size of an airplane bathroom.
I decline this generous offer and go to a friends room who had checked in the night prior.
We are ready to leave for the early dinner at around 2:45pm. I go into the office and ask the two young men, "I am assuming that our room is still not finished, but thought I would ask." The young man that I just had the exchange with 30 minutes prior tells me, "Yes, your room is ready. It was ready when we put your bag in the room." This last sentence is why there is a 1-star review.
Aside from the horrible customer service, the shower water in our room only got as hot as lukewarm. Far from civilization, no services, small, cold, rooms, lukewarm water, and poor customer service. This was not worth the 400£ for...
Read moreWe have just stayed at the Goodenough Club for the weekend and was overall very impressed. Our check in was straightforward and as soon as our room was ready we were given our key and directed to our room which was next door. As we opened the door to our room we were surprised at the size of the room and the fact that it was lovely and bright. The room had everything we needed in it including kettle, tea, coffee, hairdryer and complementary toiletries. We had a fantastic nights sleep as the road is incredibly quiet for London! The reason we dropped a star was for the rather 'shambolic' breakfast in the great hall. I appreciate the hotel is linked to the college and the great hall serves students as well as the hotel guests, but surely paying guests should be treated differently shouldn't they? The hall is laid out like a school canteen and upon entering the food area it doesn't get any better. You collect a plastic tray, plate and cutlery and then proceed to choose your food. The hot drinks are first followed by the hot selection of English breakfast. Above the hot plate was a sign saying that only 5 items could be chosen. You are shepheared around the room by other people getting breakfast and after choosing your hot food, you find the porridge... ah, you can't have that as you've already got your five items! The toaster is also in this area so whilst waiting for your toast to cook your breakfast is getting cold. Once toast is cooked you then have to join a queue to 'pay' for your breakfast even though you don't have to pay as it's included in your bed and breakfast package! You eventually sit down at a table with a cold breakfast and a cold 'hot' drink. I was desperate for another cup of tea, but you can't go back in and get anything else. It just reminded me of a motorway services. There has got to be a more successful way of guests getting a breakfast. All in all we had a...
Read moreBe very careful and do not book this hotel at any cost this hotel. This is purely a scam and fake advertising.
I wrote to see manager and she said "everything was normal" and if you did not complain, it means you had a good stay. This is one of the most dishonest answer from a professional I received in my full life. Being a manager of an hotel is to take care of his customers, not to think about money at any cost.
I would say it is a 2 stars hotel.
See my review below with the pictures. I do not want next guest to be fooled and hope it will help to not book this hotel.
All the pictures you can see on Booking do not represent the reality.

1-The hotel itself. We literally were parked on the back of the building in a « box ». Nothing to do with the Victorian style that you advertise.
2- The room we booked had a fireplace and was a big room. We literally had a small room that look zero like the picture.
3- The restaurant. On the Booking page, there is ZERO mention on the fact that the restaurant is outside the building, in a « college ». I like to book an hotel to have holidays, to feel home and to be able to take a drink at the hotel.
4- When we arrived nobody helped us with our luggage. The only thing they told us is: « go outside in the back, go downstairs and then go again upstairs ». Never happened a situation like this.
5- It says soundproof. We literally heard the cleaning person the two mornings between 8 to 10 in the backyard. They were speaking very loud. We had no choice to hurry to leave the hotel.
This is my worst experience in 15 years traveling. If it was $50 the night, why not, but for $300, this is a...
