This is the first time I have written a review about a food establishment but this awful experience has lead me to write this review.
We have been regulars of Angieās Chiswick over the years so it is unfortunate to have to report they have gone down hill dramatically.
One of the meals we usually go for is the Eggs Benedict, which we have had many times before at Angieās without issue. However, today after having waited longer than normal for our food to arrive, both my fiancĆ©e & I noticed that the ham on both our plates was visibly black & burned at the edges.
Then upon trying to cut into the bread/muffin that the eggs sit upon, both of us found it was absolutely rock solid & you could barely get your knife through it⦠you would likely break a tooth if attempting to bite into it; the one mouthful I carefully attempted to take was like biting into a rock & was not pleasant!
We informed the floor staff that the whole meal was over cooked & inedible, they apologised & went to ask the chef to remake our meals. Unbelievably, upon returning the staff member said the chef had told them āthis is how it comesā & if they remake the meal āit will be exactly the sameā, so basically the chef was not willing to acknowledge they had burnt & overcooked our food & would burn it again if we get it remade!
So we of course had to get a refund & leave, the front desk staff said āthereās nothing we can doā as they were giving us the refund, which gave me the impression they are aware the chef is a nightmare but they are powerless to do anything about it.
Perhaps there is a new chef here because we have never experienced this before, but unfortunately Angieās has permanently lost our business due to this arrogant & incompetent chef. They wonāt have many regular customers left soon if they carry on like this. Maybe the owners can do something about it before itās too late for their business.
A real shame as this once lovely place is now somewhere that unless you like rock hard bread & burnt food, is probably somewhere you should avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI keep giving this cafe a chance since I live locally and it's easy to get to, but I keep receiving bad customer service.
I was simply asked to leave MY seat and be given the bill to leave when other people came in and couldn't find a seat. This has happened to me TWICE and almost a third time had someone not intervened. Why do you allow people to come in and PAY you if you get to decide when they leave? I asked if i could sit down for a coffee and was told yes, but nothing about when i need to leave? Plus, if you are asked to leave after an hour, I would rather spend my money elsewhere where I can atleast get to do something while drinking my coffee (sorry but everyone has the privilege of sipping coffee without doing some work on the side on their laptops). I don't care if I didn't order brunch, this place serves coffee and some people don't want to be forced to have brunch at your place. It goes to show that it's all about where the money is. Shameful!!
I am also pretty sure this isn't a coincidence, since the white lady infront of me wasn't told to leave her Seat and was NOT having brunch, as she was reading a newspaper. For reference, I am ethnic and after being there several times I can certainly say this cafe doesn't have a diverse clientele. This cafe caters to rich white people so if you aren't white nor rich don't waste your time. I would spend my money somewhere worthy if I were you. Definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy favourite cafĆ© in London, if youāre ever in Chiswick looking out for brunch/ lunch or even just coffee and cake, I could not recommend it more highly. The food here is top notch, cooked and prepared on site by people who really seem to care; typically classic combinations, but done so well! Depending on your mood or your taste they do some stunning healthy and flavourful salads, which vary according to the season, or if youāre are feeling a bit naughtier / hungrier they do a handful of lovely ācomfort foodā classics, such as corn fritters and buttermilk chicken. You can taste the quality in the ingredients too, for instance the goats cheese on the bruschetta is some of the best I have tried. Try and save some room for cake and coffee too, they are all amazing. If they have it available they do quite simply the best lemon meringue pie Iāve ever tasted! The staff are so friendly and attentive and seem to enjoy what they do, the water glasses are constantly replenished! Going back to the Lemon meringue pie, I am so grateful that on one occasion I phoned in advance to ask if they had it as they vary the menu fairly regularly, and they said that they would make one especially, going absolutely above and beyond! Word has clearly got around both sides of the Atlantic, as on one occasion, we even saw a Hollywood...
