Considering that I live very close to the pub, Iām practically a next-door neighbor. I go there occasionally and sometimes quite regularly to watch football. On one of these visits, I was having a good time with my friends when, just a few steps away, a group of young people who were clearly intoxicated caused a disturbance. One of them ended up projectile vomiting everywhere.
The miserable bar manager quickly stepped in to clean up the mess, and the owner came over to assess the situation, my cousin who was there with my friend she was so shocked by the incident she wanted to move and sit elsewhere the smell was an absolute inconvenience.
As we were moving, I turned to one of the people with the individual who had thrown up and calmly said, āIf you donāt know your limits when drinking, you shouldnāt drink.ā Instead of acknowledging this, I received an aggressive response and surprisingly, the bar manager sided with them and pointed at me told me to be keep quiet.
I ignored the manager and I asked the guy to repeat his comments outside, the owner instead of addressing the behavior of the unruly group he decided to kick me out for simply expressing my opinion even after I had spent a significant amount of money there.
Despite remaining calm and composed, the owner thought it was appropriate to try put his hands on me while asking me to leave. Considering there is CCTV evidence, and I was being very calm and cooperative, this was completely unnecessary. He even followed us outside, ignoring the fact that the person who had been disrespectful and abusive was still shouting insults.
Instead of addressing their behavior, he seemed more focused on me for simply pointing out how wrong it was to kick me out of the pub. I was accused of causing a "ruckus" and I told him that if I were white and Irish, I wouldn't of been treated this way.
I strongly recommend staying away from this pub. While the bar staff are excellent, the management clings to an outdated, prejudiced mentality. They might offer cheap drinks, but it comes at a cost.
I genuinely believe they are not very keen to people who are not from the same background as them. This might sound harsh but this is the reality in 2025 Westminster Westbourne park Angies free...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSurprised to read the comments here on racism and violence. Pub has a fair few East African, Caribbbean and Middle Eastern regulars, as well as Celts (I'm ethnically "Squelsh" but born here, as were both my parents) and English, and I've rarely witnessed any aggro here. Nina Simone, Phil Lynott (OK, he was Irish), John Lee Hooker, Prince, Bob Marley and Hendrix posters are on the wall, along with Irish and C&W musicians. We use it for football and occasionally music. Denis and his assistant Dave/Spud run the place well and the staff are efficient and friendly. I think music events are around ten a year: bands ranging from blues to rock, occasionally DJ's and karaoke. They try to cater for all sports fans but it's a small, one-room place and they're only able to have commentary from one event. Frequented by LFC, QPR, CFC, AFC, MUFC and Celtic fans, who mostly get on OK. First went there for a Chelsea ECL game when we were the underdogs and it was raining, and it was very quiet, but since the closure of many nearby pubs, it's grown...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited Angie's and had an appalling experience that I feel compelled to share. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, and it only got worse. The staff were not only rude but openly displayed racist behaviour and forced me to leave after being in there five minutes! Such treatment is completely unacceptable and left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and disrespected. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you expect to be treated with basic human decency. There are plenty of other places that value and respect their patronsāAngie's is certainly not...
