We've been here many times before, and had many a good evening in the past. Today was a very special occasion and it did disappoint very badly.
We went for the poussin and the wagyu burger (medium) which was normally our order. The chicken was chard on the outside and dry on the inside, very chard. The burger was very well done, dry and very salty( probably cause the salt was the only thing left to be eaten).
As said we've had the exact same meals many times, and it was always good, so i guess we can all have a bad day, it happens to the best of us.
To top it up the service... well, not much of a service. We never got a check back, I tried to order a second drink, but couldn't as the staff were busing chatting a couple meters away from us and didn't notice me rising my hand a few times. After a few more handrises I just asked for the bill, both plates had more than half of the food untouched and when I started saying to the waitress that the food wasn't good, she finished my sentence with "amazing right ?"
Why would i leave half of my meal if it was amazing ? She didnt even bothered looking at the plate I guess. I explained what happened and she said "oh, I can take the service charge off", not even offered to recook, or get something else, at least another drink or a sweet bite to rid of the bad taste...
We've met the owner many times before, and he is such a nice guy, and seems very caring about his business, so this review is more of a heads up for him, just so you know what goes on when you are not there. I really hope you can fix it, as I wish you the best.
Thank you for many good nights in the past, unfortunately we re leaving London for good tomorrow, and our last dinner in this city left a literal bad taste in our mouth.
PS. To the owner, i will change my review after you read it, as 1 star doesn't reflect my overall experience in your restaurant, but I think 1 star will make it easier...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas taken here by a local, who is a regular here, and what a wonderful place this is. It is SO cosy! Richard, the owner, whom we got to meet, together with his dog Dolly (adorable!), a New Yorker, from what I have gathered, loves jazz, so that love is brought across to Aperivino, it has piano right in the middle and live jazz sessions. I would love to come back to hear it. Lovely homey rugs on the floors, beautiful lighting, fantastic selection of wines, including top Aussie drops, like Killikanoon, or Leeuwin Estate, no doubt promoted well by Victoria, a Melbournian long time Londoner, who served us, a beautiful and charming lady, who conducts tastings at this establishment as well. Cheese platter was lovely, though one got a feeling they were scamping on cheese a bit, but focaccia was beautiful, olives tasty as were little peppers, though general supermarket variety. The atmosphere here so fab, the wines by the glass available so excellent, that it is the only tiny area for...

The wine list is carefully crafted , you can test here wonderful wines from a huge selection , all carefully selected with wisdom ,knowledge, love and care . The food is very specific goes well with the wines , very testy . It is clear they use fresh & High quality ingredients, a strait forward food in a level of a Michelin star restaurant, at the same time you can eat here in an atmosphere of a home . Not pretentious- direct and very professional. Seems as those who made the place made an effort, did a deep research , know what they are doing very well . I highly recommend this place by...
