Basilico — Restaurant in London

I've been ordering pizza from this place since it arrived in Limehouse area and was generally happy with the food and service. However, the quality of service got worse during the last year or so. I recently took the advantage of their offer pizza & freebie, I opted for cannoli and they actually phoned to check if that was what I wanted.

I've waited for my order for 1h30 minutes. When I phoned after one hour of waiting, I was assured that it was on its way. I live literally 0.7 miles away. When I phoned again after 30 minutes they contacted the driver. It turned out that he had run out of petrol and had to push his bike to the petrol station. Apparently, it did not occur to him a) to check if he had enough petrol to do his job b) considering the distance to my place, to push the bike back to the restaurant, arrange for another driver to deliver my order (or even to push the bike to my place and deliver pizza) and then sort out his petrol issues.

He eventually arrived with lukewarm and greasy pizza (all the ingredients seeping into pizza while it stewed in its box for more than 1 hour) and no cannoli. He did come back after 5 minutes with cannoli and complimentary pot of olives (probably because I asked over the phone if the delivery charges were going to be refunded). By that time I completely lost my appetite.

I will think twice before ordering again. There are many other pizzerias offering the same quality and prices. There are also many restaurants offering delivery, trying to survive during the pandemic and I think they deserve...

the pizzas are fantastic but their customer service is truly appalling!. A few months ago we ordered a pizza and two hours later still no pizzas delivered , everytime we rang it was a different excuse, eventually we had to cancel. We decided to give them another go last week however because yes their pizza is great but guess what? 1hr 15mins later still no pizza (despite asking before hand and being told the pizza would be around 25mins) so I rang up to ask for an update and was told " we arent heart surgeons it will get there when it gets there" I of course told them to cancel it , guess what a few days later I see they have taken the money out of my account anyway! I emailed them stating all this and asking for a refund asap, they didn't even bother to reply so I got my bank to dispute the charge. I really dont understand why they think its ok to treat customers this way but they have certainly lost me...

I ordered a very disappointing pizza on Deliveroo from this restaurant. I was drawn to the restaurant because of the very short delivery time of 20 minutes - unfortunately I waited around double that time. There was no tracking available on the app which was also odd.

I was also drawn to the fact that the restaurant has a very high rating on Deliveroo and some highly gushing and effusive reviews on Google - including ‘my favourite pizza place in all of London, therefore the country and possibly the world’. Whatever this dreamer was smoking before eating…. I want an ounce of please.

The pizza was bland and lacking in flavour. The base was chewy. The pizza was allegedly truffle, mushroom and salami - there was no truffle, the mushrooms were wet and tasteless and the salami was bland.

Given the options in London for competently prepared and tasty pizza I would not order...
