recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at a restaurant that left a lot to be desired. In an attempt to enjoy a traditional English breakfast, I was met with disappointment and a sense of being taken advantage of. Here are the key issues that compelled me to give this establishment a well-deserved one-star rating:
Lackluster Full English: Imagine my shock when my plate arrived with only a solitary egg, taunting me amidst the sparse assortment of breakfast items. It was as if the chef had forgotten that a full English breakfast should, in fact, be complete. With a pitifully limited amount of food, the dish felt more like an English snack than a hearty meal.
Absurd Pricing: To add insult to injury, this restaurant had the audacity to charge a hefty £18 for such a meager offering. I understand that quality comes at a price, but seriously, charging extra for a second egg? That's downright extortionate! It's beyond comprehension why a restaurant would choose to exploit their customers' desire for a complete breakfast by overcharging for the most basic component.
Disappointing Value for Money: When paying a substantial amount for a meal, one expects a certain level of quality, quantity, and overall satisfaction. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed miserably in delivering on any of these fronts. I left feeling unsatisfied, both in terms of taste and the hole it left in my wallet.
Uninspiring Presentation: Not only did the food lack in quantity, but it also lacked any visual appeal. The plating was uninspired and lacked the finesse that one would expect from a restaurant claiming to offer a decent full English breakfast. It appeared as though the chef had little regard for the overall experience and simply threw the items haphazardly onto the plate.
In conclusion, my visit to this restaurant was an absolute letdown. With its subpar full English breakfast, exorbitant pricing for additional eggs, and overall lack of value for money, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a satisfying breakfast experience. Save yourself the disappointment and find a place that truly understands what a "full" English...
Read moreWhen this first opened, we were very excited to try a new local brunch place because, well, who doesn’t love brunch?
The aesthetics of the place was inviting, with enough space to accommodate a range of groups. For us though, that’s where the positive experience ended.
From the moment we sat down, we experienced a whole range of problems: When the waiter came to put the cutlery on the table it was just thrown down. The napkin, knife and fork ends up in my lap. With no apology. It took a very long time for the waiter to come back and take our order - 20 minutes. The coffee was served in a glass with no handle - so you had to wait for it to cool down before picking it up and let’s face it, tepid coffee hasn’t taken off for a perfectly good reason. The food arrived very quickly and was just completely underwhelming. The plate was more toast than anything else. It was like I had ordered toast with a side of breakfast.
The sausage was more shrivelled than a raisin and the poached egg was hard boiled. Nothing about the food was enjoyable.
Generally, when one goes out to a restaurant it’s to get food that most of us wouldn’t be able to cook at home. There was nothing on the plate I couldn’t replicate myself. In fact, I could do a better job:my egg would be poached perfectly.
Needless to say, it’s not a brunch place I’ll be...

The team is incredibly polite I would like to thank the waitress Mariana for her politeness and excellent service, she is always very attentive and making you feel welcomed right away. I tried their breakfast, and it was absolutely delightful! The food was not only well-prepared but also bursting with flavor. To top it off, their coffee is simply amazing—rich and satisfying, the perfect start to the day. One of the things I appreciated most was how quickly the food came out. It's clear that they prioritize both quality and efficiency, which is a big plus for anyone looking to enjoy a meal without a long wait. If you're in Muswell Hill, I highly recommend checking out Beam. It’s a wonderful spot to enjoy breakfast and savor some delicious coffee. I can't...
