Cilicia is a little gem of a Mediterranean/Turkish restaurant. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming and the interior is decorated in traditional Turkish style - colourful lamps and bazaar style decorations.
The food is absolutely delicious! I often dream about the food it is that good. They have quite a wide variety but it is mostly chicken/lamb/fish shish or steaks cooked with vegetables or scented rice. They also offer traditional dishes such as mezzes offering such staples as halloumi cheese, houmous and chickpeas, tzatziki and pitta bread.
Once ordered they bring out a basket of free fresh Turkish bread and a few traditional dips, some of which are quite spicy.
The mains are a generous size, well cooked, taste delicious and are very filling.
They offer a small selection of desserts but I normally order their creme brûlée which is honestly the best creme brûlée I have ever tasted. It is quite a big portion and they incorporate fruits such as plums or berries which offset the sweetness. However, it is not stodgy but very filling and easily enough for two people.
Their prices are very reasonable and they have a great offer of two courses for £7.99 for lunch (I think this is the correct price at time of writing).
I would really recommend them. It is not often I dream of food but I literally crave their creme brulee and if I was stuck on a desert island with only one dish that I would have for the rest of my life, I think this...
Read moreLovely house red. Very drinkable with very helpful staff. Updating to say that, while I’ll probably come back for a glass of house red, I’ll not be back for lunch or dinner for the foreseeable. Too few options with their getting rid of all the sandwiches and the prices have just gone that bit too steep for what’s left. Still recommend the place and staff are still wonderful, but thought I should say it rather than just whine about it to my mates. Sorry to update again. But want to reply back to their lovely reply as it’s an example of how fantastic a place it is. Don’t have the resources to eat dinner there too often but, even with what I’ve said above, so please go and eat there if you like wraps and the dinners they have. From what I’ve seen it’s well worth it. Only reason I can’t eat there too often is due to what I said above what with it our former go to lunch space. Updating again as realised that I just haven’t been there since the change and since being charged excessively for one item. Tipping should be optional and not for drinks as a one off. Far too common with too...
Read morePossibly the most disgusting and disappointing takeaway I've ever had. Bread and humus were good, tsatsiki was ok. Everything else was so disgusting it was inedible. Feta parcels and courgette fritters were incredibly salty and covered in soggy salad. Boxes had been put sideways into the bag which the delivery driver was given, such that it looked like all were splattered with blood but actually it was red cabbage juice that had leaked from the soggy wilting salad that had been shoved onto the hot food. Everything was completely disgusting and inedible except for the bread and humus. The cold mezze was abominable and gloopy, courgette burnt and sopping wet fron salad, and feta parcels soaking wet and tasted disgusting... even the grilled halloumi was burnt and it's quite difficult to mess up halloumi.
So far at least I haven't had food poisoning, so that's something. The portions were tiny so at least there's less to throw away! Dont waste your money...
