Belle Vue — Restaurant in London

This is a truly lovely corner pub in the heart of Clapham. Really lovely decor with seasonal touches draping from the ceiling and a warm and inviting base decor. For a relatively small pub there's a good draught range and ok wines and spirits - but it works for the pub. The food is really tasty, it's a mexican kitchen (although this may change as from what I can tell it's a separate franchise kitchen to the pub management) and the food is full of flavour and spice, I thought the 1 veggie burger option was quite unappealing (though tbf I didn't try it) but this limited the menu somewhat. The veggie tacos were tasty and cheesy fries particularly good. It would have been nice to have more choice as a veggie and also just a more varied menu - but the food was good, I understand you've got to sell what people generally buy, I think probably it's gone to an outside kitchen over doing their own pub classics because that works better - and like I say it was good when I had it! What stands out most are the staff. I came in on a (I'm guessing) relatively busy Wednesday night, with every table taken (for good reason!), it's not been overwhelming for the staff at any point and they have been so friendly and polite at every point. They've been incredibly attentive, my drink could not possibly have gone empty without them noticing, and as I am in on my own I've just been standing at the bar - but when I ordered food they went out of their way to find me a table or stool or something to make my experience that much more comfortable. It's been a lovely evening done...

We are new to Clapham and were looking forwards to trying out the Belle Vue. Family were visiting us and we took them here to have a lovely drink and a meal in the pub. It did not turn out this way…

We ordered beers that took 20mins to come to our table when we were one of three tables. The quesadilla came without the salad it had on the menu and when asked, the waitress told us “NO there is not salad” then we showed her the menu and she conceded that indeed there was salad…. The fish and chips was stinky, no one finished their meal. The plant-based burger was nice.

The manager came to our table and apologised and offered a discount however when we looked at the receipt after, they had overcharged us, adding extra drinks we never had. Eventually they did give us the money back but it took a lot of work as they said it was ‘impossible’ on the system. My partner had to come back for me to eventually get the money back.

Very upset because the atmosphere and look of the pub was great and we would have liked...

Went here for a anniversary roast, but, didn’t go as planned.. Booked roast for 3pm, place was quite packed but not that you couldn’t move. Arrived there and it took the waiter about 20 minutes to ask us for drinks, had to pick up our own menus because nobody gave them and waiter didn’t notice we didn’t have any.. only to find out that the only left roasts were chicken or veggie… oh well maybe they’ll taste incredible! Roast arrived and were incredibly disappointing, chicken had one part of the wing with some seasoning but was Bland AF, the Yorkshire puddings looked like the frozen ones from aunt Bessie’s. Nobody asked if we had enjoyed the food or not, just asked if we wanted dessert (guessing the waiter knew lol)… Overall a really bad place for food, might have been we arrived late (although 3pm for a Sunday roast doesn’t sound crazy) but will definitely not coming back neither would I reccomend it to anyone. Go for drinks, pub quiz can be alright but...
