Eating Mexican food with chopsticks! Birria Ramen in London!! Birria is a Mexican meat stew (traditionally made with goat meat but these days you can also get beef, lamb or chicken.) The rich meat broth is simply rich and concentrated served with Lime, Onion, Cilantro to take the taste to the level! Some bright spark in America invented the Birria ramen which is basically delicious noodles in this tasty broth! Instead of travelling to the states, I was so lucky to find a place in London that serves it at Birria Taco which is located inside another restaurant. At Birria Taco, they offer lamb or beef birria ramen so we tried both. The lamb broth was more concentrated and saltier compared to the beef but according to the staff, both broths were meant to be the same. The best thing were the noodles, I felt that they couldn't have made a better choice of noodles because they hung the broth well and absorbed the flavours. They reminded me of curly instant noodles with a flat wavy shape. Every mouthful was bliss because you got this strong meaty broth along with the spices as if you were eating a taco with delicious hot noodles. The key to this ramen is also the pickles, radish, onions and cilantro but I felt that more onions and cilantro is needed to give it that full on experience. I also felt that their onion and cilantro could have been fresher as it was not as flavourful as it should be. To summarize, I will definitely be returning because £9.50 was definitely worth paying! Hopefully their lamb and beef broths will be consistent in taste. The location of this place is hard to find because it is hidden inside this other restaurant which has no windows or a see through front door. On a side, I got trapped in the toilet because the lock was too high in the corner which made it hard to get out unless you really pry with your fingers, so if you had long nails, you...
Read moreMy family and I travelled from Buckinghamshire to try this restaurant. Being a half Hispanic American, I didn't have high hopes because Mexican food in the UK is notoriously bad. When we arrived, it was very quiet but it was a weird time(about 4pm.) The restaurant quickly filled up and it was a nice small, cozy little spot. There was only one waitress working there but she was very good. She was polite, courteous and our food came out quick. Honestly, she deserves a raise for how well she handled a full restaurant on her own. We ordered the beef birria tacos, birria ramen and chips. You get 4 birria tacos in a portion, a bowl of consommé, a jalapeño and a few tortilla chips with salsa. The birria ramen is big enough for 2 people. Everything was AMAZING. I wasn't sure about the birria ramen as it sounds like gimmick food but it works so well together and it was on par with the tacos. Honesty, the best Mexican food and the ONLY authentic Mexican tasting food I've had in my 10 years living in the UK. The birria place in Camden is good too but the flavor is nowhere near as authentic as this place. I've lived in Los Angeles, been to Mexico and I'm half Hispanic so I know what authentic Mexican food tastes like and this is it. By far the best Mexican food in London. I've seen other reviews from Mexican people here and they seem to all think the same. Trust, this place is amazing and I made sure to let the waitress know. I don't know who the chef is but this person knows what they're doing. A lot of new places open up every week that try and be great but never hit the mark. This was the best meal out I've had in years. Also, it's not really pricey. I think some people forget that it's London and prices have skyrocketed in the past few years. You can't expect 2016...
Read moreIS THIS LONDON’S BEST HALAL BIRRIA TACOS 😍🌮? I’ve been trying to find a good authentic Birria Taco place for quite sone time but most places do a desified version, not here. 🇲🇽 The Birria broth had so much authentic flavour, it kind of reminded me of yakhni. Everything is made in house not to mention they only use the authentic ingredients and process Mexican chillies in house.
Beef Birria Taco (8.5/10) & Lamb Birria Taco (9/10) 🥩 - The meat was great and the tacos were seasoned well too, the flavour was so developed, it was everything I expected. I just prefer lamb so i would go for this but if you’re a beef person, go ahead! I would ask for extra cheese on the meat though, because I’m a cheesy person 🧀!
Vegetarian/Vegan Birria Taco (8.75/10) - You honestly don’t miss the meat! There’s just so much flavour in this.
Beef Nachos (7.75/10) - This is the best and most authentic nacho’s you’ll get from most places like this, and the flavour shows!
Lamb Ramen in Birria Broth (7/10) 🍜 - This is more of an LA Street Food dish, which we don’t really get over here, but is great to try as it’s something very different! And the brothe has so mich flavour so it works.
Churros (9/10) - These were very light and tasty, churros can be very heavy and overwhelming but these weren’t.
Jarritos Drinks - Lovely Mexican drinks selection, I really enjoyed them, its great to try different country’s drinks.
