Blakes Bakery — Restaurant in London

I am a support worker for people with learning disabilities. I have worked on Harrow Rd for over 20 years and use this cafe three times a week even before it was Blakes.

Today, I supported a service user of mine to buy a roll. He also asked for a pattie. When the lady told him the price, we realised he didn't have enough money. He asked for her to return the pattie. At that point she snapped, "I told you how much I was, before I put it in the bag!" I stepped in and explained he is a man with a learning disability with no understanding of the value of money. She replied "Yes he does I know him". I again attempted to explain but she snappily, rudely, unprofessionally dismissed me and said "forget about it". I tried to explain that although she was happy to forget about it, I was not. At this point her colleague stepped in, almost echoing her sentiment, dismissive, move on, forget about it. I asked to speak with the young man that usual works there and knows me well but was told he had left. I then asked for the manager/owner's telephone number and was told no.

To be clear, I WILL NEVER IN MY NATURAL LIFE EVER USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN. Nor my family and friends and my client himself said he won't ever come back. I advised him to return his roll but he was hungry.

The West Indian lady is normally in a great mood, playing music and we normally laugh about the tunes. Today, this wasn't her mood.
