Honestly never left a google review on anything before whether it’s good or bad, but after my experience here I feel like I have to share this, there is a board to write your name to down to play pool and it had a list with many names, guy comes and rubs all the names off that were waiting to play, and puts his name up, even though it was evident he done it by purpose me my friends and others resolved the situation calmly and put all the names back up, 10-15 minutes another guy part of the same friendship , group of English locals around 10 of them does the same thing, as I took a picture before I’m writing the names back up he tries to push me and squares up to me I defend myself by pushing him back, never once anyone hit anyone, one of the group has gone over to the manager and said something, the manager said you need to leave immediately she didn’t even give me a chance to speak and tell her what happened, but from what I understand a group of English locals who come regularly are important whatever they say the manager has to support and they can play pool and rubs name off with no consequence and if you say anything to question that you get kicked out seems a bit like a dictatorship and racism, even older locals defended me and the security guard even said you have a right to defend yourself if someone squares up to you but I have to listen my manager. Honestly would never would go back here after the way they made me feel I wouldn’t go here again if you paid me. Luckily I was with a couple of friends and they defended me. If I was alone I would have felt humiliated and you should really learn how to treat people with respect. If the manager has any decency or morales she should apologise to me. Twice names were rubbed off from your locals you do nothing, you kick me out for no reason, you didn’t give a reason when I speak to you, you just ignore me because you scared to upset your locals. Phenomenal Sunday Roast!!! The new Chef is from the Hilton and definitely knows how to do it right. There were three options: Beef, Chicken or Vegan. I chose the Roast Chicken. To my surprise, they gave me half a chicken. It was a MASSIVE portion and more than I can eat. Such value! (Hello chicken sandwich for lunch tomorrow!!! I love extras.) The meat was tender and juicy and the rest, especially carrots, were so flavourable. Chef came out to ask how everything was so I took the opportunity to ask how he made the chicken with hope I can, (fingers-cross), cook a masterpiece like this to impress the in-laws. He said he has a 48-hour process to get it to perfection. Whoa! Err, yeah, no, I don't have time for that. He also said he's adding a kids menu so that will be great so I can bring my family next time. Haven't been in this place since pre-covid and met a mate here for a catch-up. Place has been done up and it looks great. I wish I took a pic of the food but I tucked in too quickly. The smell hypnotised me. Next time, I will... I did check out their food pics on instagram after dining here. Seems like the place is more of a restaurant now with good food up for offering. Will bring the husband next time as I saw their premium whisky selection....

I’ve drank and been drunk in this pub for forty years or more. At its best, it’s a truly magnificent boozer. The whole appeal is that it is rough and ready. A diamond in the rough if you please. At its height, when PJ had it it was a sprawling monolith of fun. An antidote to the ponce that surrounds it Times change, not necessarily for the better. The tipping point for me was tonight. Bar staff are understandably transient , that’s fine but tonight they had the most entitled, rudest bunch you could imagine. Especially a young, skinny, tall bird. Only Fans material but without the personality. She poured pints (poorly) and pouted. A real product of our time.

Poured premium pints in a plastic glass but when asked for an actual glass glass she threw a wobbler. A real little treasure. ‘Listen, we ain’t got the staff to wash glasses’’ So take it or leave it. As bad customer service as one could imagine.
