This new cafe opposite Clissold Park is everything a community-focused coffee shop should be. The staff are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all things coffee-related. They serve a range of carefully-sourced coffees and teas; the espresso I had (from Guatemalan beans) was fantastic - up there with Prufrock, Monmouth etc. There are also delicious sandwiches and cakes. In fact, their chocolate brownie (which happened to be vegan) was one of the best I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of brownies in my time! The music playing was chilled-out and the perfect volume, making this a great spot for getting some work done, or meeting friends - perhaps after a walk in the park. They also have yoga classes in the evening. Overall, I can't recommend Hourglass...

I visited one afternoon as was looking to grab lunch after a long cycle* ride . Dan , Barbara and Sophie were pleasant , attentive and even the customers were super nice ! My lunch arrived in 9 mins , slices of sourdough toast with peanut butter, strawberries and blackberries . Very tasty and a good serving . My chai was fab, although they don't use my fav. Oat milk** , a team member ( fellow oat drinker ) explained Moma was just as good. If Hourglass was in my area I would visit almost daily . Great place to visit ! A nice coffee shop, just opposite of a nice park. In a new age-type of set up, clean but not so spacious (still, enough paces to sit most of the time) and some seating outside, too. A good place to have some brew or refreshing drink and even do some of your catch-up work - I see many people busy on their laptops :-). Reasonable internet connection. They serve some food/sandwiches, but I haven't tried it yet. Standard cost (at least for a cappuccino/tea) and a professional service.
