Food was great, but the experience was really impacted by several simple things. As a preface, I used to be a full time chef in international restaurants and in the UK, as well as front of house staff at several other restaurants. I like to think I know how to provide service to a decent standard and I'm really not that fussy. I get that times slow down when things are busy and staff at restaurants are not paid what they should be. However, I do expect communication on what is happening.
Firstly, we ordered 2 small plates, the sharing platter, fries and sauces to share.
I was facing the kitchen and saw the waiter take our Oder to the till, input the order and then immediately pickup a plate off the hotplate which had been sitting there since we had sat down and bring it to us. When placed down, I jokingly said: that was quick!
The waiter then mentioned that they had a spare, and if that would be ok with us. We said of course. (Ask first is a rule I was taught, especially with an open kitchen where I can see the plate)
Second side plate came out perfectly timed. Spiciest wings on the menu, and after 2 I had to order some bread. Our original waiter came and got me bread asap, really nice and joked saying: I warned you! (Big props to him)
Then we got the plates for our sharing platter, which did take about 30 minutes to come out after the wings had been cleared (restaurant targets are usually 20 mins). That's fine, it had picked up and I had good company.
At this point, no fried or sauces. Halfway through the platter, I asked about the fries and sauces we had ordered. Waiter said he would check. Almost finished with the platter, we got the sauces, but no fries. Bit of a shame on sauce but it happens. Had to ask for the fries again after another 10 mins. Came when we were done.
Fries. done, we ordered the cheesecake to share. We waited 20 minutes and I asked about the cake. We were then told they had run out at that point. Just tell me before I wait 20 minutes!
The waiter then brought a brownie to our table and said you can get one of these instead. We didn't want to pay for the brownie and sent it back. The manager then clearly told him, give them the brownies and say they're on the house, which was a nice gesture.
This was only worth the trip because we had a 40% off food voucher (which we confirmed when we walked in), which when the bill came I had to ask to get it adjusted twice before taking it to the till to be fixed Infront of me.
Perhaps we had an unlucky night, but I saw that during the time we were there, 3 tickets were lost and food was constantly brought back to the kitchen after ticket confusion.
With a few tweaks and some better staff training this could really be a good spot. Hope it improves over the...

That is the only positive.
If you’d like to spend £60 per person to receive the worst service I have ever experienced, then this is the place for you. The management staff at Brix, London are rude, obnoxious and frankly should not be working in hospitality.
Advice if you wish to use the toilet, don’t. 4 of my 11 guests used the restroom whilst we were eating. We all returned to find all of our food was gone. Baring in mind, we were away from the table for no longer than 5 minutes.
The staff encourage you to leave your seats, dance and enjoy yourselves during the 90 minute window. They probably do this so they can clear your table of all food, when you haven’t even finished.
I spoke to a member of staff regarding this, who to my surprise turned out to be the manager. This man spoke to myself and some of my other guests like dirt on the bottom of his shoe.
His resolution to their mistake was to provide our table with hideous shots and 3 pathetic bowls of chips. However, when you first walk into the venue, you’re given a token for a free shot per guest?
Don’t attempt to ask for money off of the bill, as they will threaten to kick you out and surround you with their security to try and intimidate you. Six security staff were around me whilst trying to communicate with the ‘restaurant manager’.
I would’ve happily walked out at this point without paying. Annoyingly my partner had already settled our part of the bill.
I hope someone senior at this establishment reads this review and realises what an absolute shambles occurred.
Finally I’ll add, this booking was for a birthday celebration. All we celebrated was enjoying a pizza on the way home. At least that wasn’t taken...
Read moreHaving been an ardent fan of BVG (The sardines! The chips! THAT CHEESECAKE!) when it was still around, BRIX LDN was always going to be on my ‘Must Try’ list. And it certainly did not disappoint. The interior somehow conveys industrial, sexy but with warmth. It must be said that I’d usually be just a tad intimidated to walk in to such a place, but the staff make you feel at home straight away and we’re so attentive in the friendliest way all evening. The oxtail doughnuts were the top recommendation by our lovely waiter, Andrew, but being the greedy pigs we were, we also went with the flat bread with the fried chicken and the salmon tart. The chicken flat bread had just the right amount of spice, that you soothed with their delicious Brix Tai cocktail. The salmon tart was that slightly smoky fish, with a refreshing dressing and the most delicate pastry base. But the oxtail doughnuts had me having a religious moment . The meat was so tender and jammy, with a deep delicious flavour and the most perfect doughnut balls ever to complement the richness. For our mains, we had the surf and turf, beef short ribs and the cod. The steak in the surf and turf was perfectly seasoned and grilled, and the lobster was so sweet and fresh. The short ribs were of that melt-in-your mouth standard that every restaurant strives for, but not all attains, and like the oxtail, boasted so much depth of flavour. However, my favourite dish of the night was the cod. So delicate and almost creamy flakes of fish, on a bed of samphire, fresh peas and courgettes. It was so simple, but so perfectly cooked and seasoned. Fish of your dreams. We ended the night with the newest iteration of the famous cheesecake and the lightest, fluffiest chocolate mousse and rolled ourselves out the door, calling promises to be back with more mates.
