Went here for brunch at midday with a friend, we thought it might be packed and we didn’t have a booking but managed to get a table straight away. It’s in a perfect spot opposite the park and if you’re sat outside it’s quite a nice view of the park. Only downside of the outside area we were sat in was that the tables and chairs were a bit too small for my liking. Food menu really decent. I ordered the Shakshuka, you get four slices of bread with it! Some of the best sourdough I’ve had. Food was generally much better than I expected and I will be visiting again. Shame I didn’t manage to try the smoothie as they’d run out of some ingredients so just an excuse to come back!

Chanced upon this pretty little cafe just across from peckham rye park while trying to take shelter from the rain. The chai latte and tea was perfect and service was excellent - everyone was very friendly and we even got little shots on the house! The ambience is also very warm and cosy - i will be keen to visit again to try more of what they have to offer. There is an outdoor seating area too which should be nice when the weather is good out

This is a fantastic local cafe that serves excellent food and top class coffee with 5 star service and smiles. The brunch and lunch menu is consistently great, portions are generous and all very well priced. The team, in particular Carnegie & Anastasia are very kind and super efficient. Their coffee is the best in the area. It gets a little busy on weekends but the team always make it work. Plenty of outdoor seating as well.

I was so disappointed with our experience I had to leave a review. I’ve been meaning to go to cafe g for a while as we walk past it to get to our dentist. We decided to take my daughter there today for brunch/lunch. Wasn’t too busy and was ideal temperature to eat outside. Arrived, ordered, it wasn’t busy at all and I don’t think we waited too long for our food to arrive. I had the Turkish eggs which was stone cold, like straight out the fridge cold. Would have been really tasty if it had been at least warm, and the bread was great. My husband had the club sandwich which was inedible, gloopy cheap mayonnaise all over the chicken, freezing uncooked poached eggs with the clear jelly stuff when you don’t cook eggs through just everywhere. He couldn’t eat it so we ordered some waffles for him and waited for about half an hour before I went to check where they were and was told they had run out! So who knows how long they would have left us out there if I hadn’t asked. We didn’t want to make a fuss as it’s not the serving staffs fault that the food was so terrible and every table around us had some sort of issue with their food too that they were dealing with. However had the serving staff asked if everything was ok with our meal I would have explained all the problems but they all seemed to be brand new and not really sure what was going on. I would possibly go back for coffee and cake as it’s a nice location but I have to say I was very disappointed by...

I really love Cafe G. Great vibes, food and drinks. However, I will not go back for breakfast as I had 2 unpleasant experiences.

28 May: I know it opens at 8am. I was there at 8.15am. I was ordering porridge and coffee. The door has a sign that it was open. The lady behind the counter was about to take my order but the guy behind the counter rushed towards us and said that they don’t serve till 8.30am. I didn’t challenge him as I didn’t see the point. Why open if you are not ready? There was only one other customer there. I left and went to Gail’s.

A few weeks before that, I had my breakfast at Cafe G and wanted to throw a bit of rubbish. I asked the lady behind the counter where the bin is and she pointed me to a bin behind the counter. I went in to throw my rubbish. The same guy mentioned above rushed towards me and gave me a lecture that behind the counter was out of bound.

That same man looked miserable on both occasions.

I’m not going back for breakfast for such unfriendly service. As much as I love to support independent shops, I’m now going to Gail’s for my breakfast. They are so friendly and...

I usually stop here for a takeaway coffee and pastry whenever I go for a walk at Peckham Rye. The coffee quality tends to be good, although one can never expect the most welcoming service.

This morning I placed my order and quickly popped into the loo. When I came out 2 min later I found they have forgotten about my coffee, which I was not necesarily crossed about. I asked the girl behind the counter and she agreed to make one though she didn't look very happy about it, hastily moving around the coffee machine.

In the end, she served me a takeaway cup with the lid on (if you drink flat whites you will know this is not a good sign) to hide the hurried job she'd done. It was basically heated milk with a hint of coffee. I wouldn't stop here If I wanted half a poor-tasting latte for the price of a flat white, I can go to Greggs for that where I'll get 3 for the same price.

In the end it's not biggie I didnt get a proper flat white (1st world problems, right?) but what sticks is the lack of regard for a paying customer, and that's why I'm writing...
