I was so disappointed with our experience I had to leave a review. Iāve been meaning to go to cafe g for a while as we walk past it to get to our dentist. We decided to take my daughter there today for brunch/lunch. Wasnāt too busy and was ideal temperature to eat outside. Arrived, ordered, it wasnāt busy at all and I donāt think we waited too long for our food to arrive. I had the Turkish eggs which was stone cold, like straight out the fridge cold. Would have been really tasty if it had been at least warm, and the bread was great. My husband had the club sandwich which was inedible, gloopy cheap mayonnaise all over the chicken, freezing uncooked poached eggs with the clear jelly stuff when you donāt cook eggs through just everywhere. He couldnāt eat it so we ordered some waffles for him and waited for about half an hour before I went to check where they were and was told they had run out! So who knows how long they would have left us out there if I hadnāt asked. We didnāt want to make a fuss as itās not the serving staffs fault that the food was so terrible and every table around us had some sort of issue with their food too that they were dealing with. However had the serving staff asked if everything was ok with our meal I would have explained all the problems but they all seemed to be brand new and not really sure what was going on. I would possibly go back for coffee and cake as itās a nice location but I have to say I was very disappointed by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really love Cafe G. Great vibes, food and drinks. However, I will not go back for breakfast as I had 2 unpleasant experiences.
28 May: I know it opens at 8am. I was there at 8.15am. I was ordering porridge and coffee. The door has a sign that it was open. The lady behind the counter was about to take my order but the guy behind the counter rushed towards us and said that they donāt serve till 8.30am. I didnāt challenge him as I didnāt see the point. Why open if you are not ready? There was only one other customer there. I left and went to Gailās.
A few weeks before that, I had my breakfast at Cafe G and wanted to throw a bit of rubbish. I asked the lady behind the counter where the bin is and she pointed me to a bin behind the counter. I went in to throw my rubbish. The same guy mentioned above rushed towards me and gave me a lecture that behind the counter was out of bound.
That same man looked miserable on both occasions.
Iām not going back for breakfast for such unfriendly service. As much as I love to support independent shops, Iām now going to Gailās for my breakfast. They are so friendly and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually stop here for a takeaway coffee and pastry whenever I go for a walk at Peckham Rye. The coffee quality tends to be good, although one can never expect the most welcoming service.
This morning I placed my order and quickly popped into the loo. When I came out 2 min later I found they have forgotten about my coffee, which I was not necesarily crossed about. I asked the girl behind the counter and she agreed to make one though she didn't look very happy about it, hastily moving around the coffee machine.
In the end, she served me a takeaway cup with the lid on (if you drink flat whites you will know this is not a good sign) to hide the hurried job she'd done. It was basically heated milk with a hint of coffee. I wouldn't stop here If I wanted half a poor-tasting latte for the price of a flat white, I can go to Greggs for that where I'll get 3 for the same price.
In the end it's not biggie I didnt get a proper flat white (1st world problems, right?) but what sticks is the lack of regard for a paying customer, and that's why I'm writing...
