I've been coming here for years but have finally given it up as a bad job. They give you an amazing massage the FIRST time you go, and VERY occasionally afterwards, but mostly just skip over your joints, which tend to be the stiff parts, and concentrate on jabbing their fingers and elbows into your abdomen and tendons. This hurts. If you say anything, they say "No pain no gain" and carry on.

They tell you- "You must have acupuncture, only that will help" - you have it, it doesn't help, they say you didn't have it enough and if you come twice a week for 6 weeks it will help then. If you do that, and it still doesn't help, they move on to the tea.

They say "You must have the tea, that will help"- the tea is a course of foul-smelling and tasting sludge powder and twigs you boil up twice a day and choke down for 3 weeks. It's never helped me- then they say "You must have the tea for at least 6 months also give up all salt, sugar, dairy, fat, alcohol and cigarettes, then you will feel better".

All these small healing/massage places seem to follow this pattern, and it's a shame, as they could just do good massage which they are obviously capable of, and build a client base that way, but they prefer to try and sell you alternative therapies and grind their elbows agonizingly into the backs of your knees, which is less work than deep tissue massage.

Oh, and they always gyp you on time. If you pay for an hour you have to wait at least 5 mins for them to come to the room, they finish 5 minutes early, and keep stopping the massage to...

I'm not a seasoned purchaser of massages, but after a quick hunt yesterday with aching back and shoulders, I can confirm the 45min full body massage is excellent and very competitively priced, cheaper than most. Only down side is it is not a salubrious environment, but that is reflected in the price....
