Wasnt near my usual one in Mitcham so I tried this place for the first time today(curried chicken with rice). Wish I hadn't. The guy was friendly enough but At £13 for a pretty normal sized tub it's Nearly double the price then Mitcham a few miles down the road for very dry rice and chicken bones rather then chicken it felt like I was given scraps. I said "woo" when he said £13 and he said "that's what a lot of people say" Don/owner maybe if that's the case you are over charging and need to bring your prices down and keep some flesh on them chicken bones.
*This is my response to owners reply... I appreciate supplies have gone up but surely not that much. I'd say your "large sized meals are actually more medium sized and your small ones are actually tiny going from the container size I saw. Also can you address the lack of chicken on the bones? The meal was basically 10%veg ,...
Read moreDon’s hut have been progressively going downhill for years. In three distinct ways: 1. Portion sizes- you would need at least three meal portions to feed a grown man. Frankly these portions are a child’s happy meal. 2. Price- even if you bought the ingredients twice over from the market you still wouldn’t total up to a meal cost at don’s hut. Prices are outrageous. Eg. Standard size meal with a side veg will set you back over £20. 3. Food quality- this has got to be the most important for any food business. You can drive up your prices, cut down your portion sizes but you should never compromise on food quality, taste and flavour. The food is oily and dissatisfying. Frankly majority of the time it smells and tastes stale. On a flip-side, I would like to say their soups are very tasty. However it boils down to a portion problem again. You don’t get nearly enough meat for what you pay. Something needs to change or they’ll be going out...
