Avoid the male bar keep who argues with the customers at all times. And, demand the itemized receipt not to get cheated or enter the unwanted argument with the bar man.
We ordered 2 light snacks along with 2 pints of cider. Then it took 30 min for them to bring out the fried squids and small nachos. No silverware was given. As the large nachos we ordered was very small on the tea cup saucer size plate, we asked for the receipt.
Obviously the bar man did not take my order down correctly but he said I had said small. But I have my partner with me as the witness. He wouldn't stop arguing or apologizing to me, next to the manager.
And, as it was 30 min too late and the drinks were almost consumed, we wanted the refund. And, I suggested the young manager lady to print out the itemized receipt, not just the card receipt that hides the order price or sizes. She said, to save the print paper, they would not give out the itemized bill to the customer, first, unless being asked to, after seeing this unpleasant mixup.
And, why did we only get the food names, not the prices that add up to what we originally had paid. She said even the printed receipt provided later was for the kitchen and not for the customer. That is not the right feedback. She gave the cash back. Now we get to see the flat cider was GBP 7,60 in my guess, still no receipt was given.
Okay. This is surely a tourist trap fooling people with this track. And see the portions of plates and how they were described on menu. Big discrepancy.
Close to the end of Portobello road market strip but I would never enter this joint.

Read moreProbably my favourite pub in the Portobello area. The reason I love it is the interior design, which some might find "stuffy" and old-fashioned, but to me gives off a great, cozy pub vibe which I thoroughly enjoy.
There is a bar in the middle, and it is surrounded by some wooden arches with very, VERY small doors. I honestly don't know why they're so small but I like to think this is a lord-of-the-ring-esque dwarven pub. In any case, watch your head. These arches separate the interior in quite a few areas, which makes them all feel small and cozy if you're into that. You can access the bar from any of these sections.
When the warmer weather comes around and you can't stand being in closed spaces, they have a great garden in the back, that's actually quite different in decoration from the interior. It is very large, with plenty of sitting, and it's great for the summer.
The beer selection is decent, and so are the beers themselves. They serve other alcoholic drinks as well. The staff has been okay every time I've been there, decent service, no bad experiences.
Overall I definitely recommend this pub for a cozy, small space environment to sit with a couple of friends and...
Read moreThe iconic Earl Of Lonsdale is a great place to have a good pint, can't miss this in your visit to Notting Hill you will be at the same place as the greatest music artist of the 70's having a beer. So music lovers are obliged to come here, sit back and breathe in the atmosphere.
With small rooms around the bar and nice place outside to drink when the weather in London isn't rain, the pub is a great place to stop and enjoy your visit.
The place deserves five star, the town too, but the service isn't what I expected for an iconic pub at London. You can't be nice with the customers?, well then waiter isn't your job. Really, it isn't. And it's not the job for the rude bald waiter inside. We all know customer service is hard, it's even harder at a touristic place as Notting Hill, full of tourists hungry to see Madonna's house, or the Beckham's, but if you can't do it, trust me man, there are tons of jobs in England you can do. At the end you're the front of people to the world, as we the tourist will come back to our countries and tell our experience, and you're giving a bad name to all other places with working hard waiters to make our...
