Updating my one star review, after an unfortunate event.

Pretty much the only place in London to get good coffee :)

————

I have been a very loyal customer to your Portobello store for the past year.

Today, I went to get my usual “El Fresno coffee beans” and took out the card I usually get stamped upon every ocassion I purchase anything.

The employee refused to stamp it and said it was only if I planned on buying coffee.

I politely said I had been a customer for 1 year and had never been refused the stamp which she responded by “I have been told it’s only for coffee while she looked at me with disgust”

I asked the second employee in-store who also refused.

I would like to ask for some sort of compensation given the following facts:

The way I was treated, taking into account my loyalty as a customer.

The fact that nowhere on the card nor in-store does it say you only get the card stamped if you buy a coffee.

It does not make sense you would give a stamp for a £4 coffee and not stamp every time I come and buy a £15 worth bag of coffee beans.

What does actually make more sense is if you offer a free coffee to someone who buys 9x £15= £135 worth of coffee beans which is what they had been doing since my first filled card.

I hope to hear from you with a gesture to make up for this treatment.

I emailed with proof of all the transactions I have in your store (only on one of my cards) for more evidence.

On the good note your...

I’m a Gail’s coffee girl, but thought of giving “Hermanos”coffee a try. All I can say is that their coffee was truly incredible, as well as the best I’ve tried on the planet so far. It was smooth, bold, & super flavoursome, without being bitter, or tearing an acid hole in your stomach. The notes were chocolatey pistachio, a fine brew indeed. The staff were friendly & the seats were comfortable, with a nice atmosphere to unwind & rest my feet. The only negative was that cakes were being brought out of the same door that people were queuing infront of to use the toilet. Perhaps the pantry storage and public toilet are side by side. I just had a coffee & so can’t comment on their pastries, but it felt strange to see a dude bringing out trays of cake from behind the very same door, that people qued for in order to use the loo. Will definitely go there again. Same price as Gail’s...

I had gotten their iced matcha, and was disappointed when the server had failed to mention that the matcha had cinnamon, coconut and brown sugar inside it already. Only after I had gotten the matcha and tried it and realised it was not plain, and had gone back inside to ask if it has anything inside I had been told it has coconut and upon asking why it tastes like cinnamon, got told that it also has cinnamon. I think it should be mentioned before ordering or when I had asked if I can add any syrups and the server told me that its not an option, but could've instead mentioned that it does contain cinnamon, coconut and brown sugar. This would also avoid allergic reactions as luckily my cousin, who was with me at the time and had also gotten the iced matcha, has an allergy to coconut. Luckily, I had drank it first and realised before she did and we had avoided an...

This is the best tasting coffee in the area. When I saw they were closed for renovations a few weeks ago I was worried I’d have to settle for worse coffee elsewhere! But they got it done quickly! It’s unfortunate that the new renovation looks so clinical and sterile compared to the unique character the previous one had, but now there’s so much more seating available. The coffee is so good that I’ll keep coming back, but this place could improve by adding to the blank walls in the future. It’s nice that those staying in can have coffee in ceramic mugs, but something more sustainable than plastic for iced drinks would be great! The music is way too loud inside too, probably too loud for comfortable conversation, so if you need to work or read then earplugs are a must.

As a Colombian coffee enthusiast, I was immediately drawn to Hermanos Coffee Roasters on Portobello Road. What a charming little shop! The branding is fantastic, and the bright colours create such a welcoming vibe. I opted for a double espresso, the Lucia, and it was genuinely one of the most surprising and delightful espressos I've had in ages. The pronounced lychee notes were just incredible – a touch sweet and so refreshing. It was also expertly prepared, arriving at the perfect drinking temperature right away, complete with a lovely thick crema. This espresso was truly delicious and highly recommended!
