Read moreGreat little Mexican restaurant. Cash, credit cards and probably e-wallet payments accepted. Open for lunch and dinner.
Wandered in here somewhat at random. Appreciated the menu, which includes great street tacos, chilaquilles, and other traditional Mexican fare. From outside the restaurant I mistook the bottles on display for tequila when they are, in fact, hot sauce bottles. And they do have some good hot sauce options tableside, including two habanero hot sauces with a pleasant but also tasty heat.
Street tacos were very authentic - small corn tortillas. Two tortillas per taco would have done a better job of containing the filling rather than dissolving and having it all drop out on the plate. I opted for the carne asada tacos and they were not stingy with the meat, which was also tender and flavorful. Topped with a trace of chopped onion (no cilantro, tragically) with a lime on the side. Delicious.
Chilaquilles were OK. A bit drier than they often are in other restaurants. No rice or beans either - just the fried egg on top with some chopped chili slices and a smattering of cotija-style cheese. Flavors were fine but it was overall a bit underwhelming.
Chips can be served with guacamole, a trio of salsas, or a cheese dip. The salsas are flavorful (the pico is a bit bland, no jalapenos at all and barely any cilantro) - one green and one red salsa with a deliciously strong garlic undertone.
Only one tequila on the menu, though they have other agave spirits available on inquiry. They offer a mezcal margarita that is flavorful, and the spicy margarita was good. I ordered a shot of their blanco tequila, and it was served in a double shot glass -the second shot glass had a bit of green salsa verde. When I asked the waiter what the deal was, he seemed surprised but informed me it was a traditional way to drink a shot of tequila, by following it with the salsa verde. Traditional at least in this restaurant.
Overall a good experience here and...
Read moreI came to this venue for a birthday dinner few weeks ago with a group of my friends. Some of us had dinner upstairs before the rest of the party joined us after midnight. We were greeted by Ismael by the door who welcomed us with a smile and asked if we have a reservation or not. He then asked a member of staff to sit us down. His name was William.
William took us to our table and explained the menu to us as well as the whole venue. The first question he asked was "how are you today" and then he said "are there any allergies I should know about". He was a super waiter. Some of my friends work in hospitality so it is a big thing for us.
We had food to share between us. We had some prawn avocado, pork, jackfruit and cod tacos. Then we had beef short rib to share with pork quesadillas, chicken nachos and spicy potatoes. As for deserts, we had Churros and Tres Leches cake. I have to say, this was the best Tres Leches I have ever had!!!
During the dinner, I went to the and I asked Joy, the bartender, to make me a tequila cocktail with strawberry and he made a beautiful twist on Tommy's Margarita. My friends liked so they ordered a round. After dinner, the manager on duty that night brought us a complimentary deserts with a candle to celebrate my friend's birthday. Her name was Tyra. She was great!
We then went downstairs to the basement to party with the DJ!!! The ambiance and the atmosphere was perfect! We were served by Edgar. I personally went for a classic mezcal margarita but my friends were a bit difficult. They asked him to make the most random classic cocktails with a twist and boy oh boy, Edgar delivered with a style. The rest of my party showed up between midnight to 02:00 and they loved the place.
Thank you for a great and unforgettable experience. I will definitely be back soon.
P.s. shout out to the kitchen team, all the waiters...
