In short: brilliant food, terrible service
When we arrived we were seated quickly despite it being busy, however we then were left waiting ages for our waiter. I would've expected for someone to come over within 5 minutes to take our drinks order, but we were probably sat there for 15 minutes before anyone came over. We kept trying to catch someone's eye but it felt like none of the staff were actively looking around at customers, and were instead running around with their heads down. Having worked in hospitality for several years we were always told to look out for customers who might be in need of something.
Eventually our order was taken, and the food arrived fairly promptly. The food was SO GOOD - we had the OG ramen and it couldn't be faulted. I would say though that I paid an extra £2.50 to add bok choy to mine, just to realise that that was for one measly piece on top.
When I was 3/4 of the way through my meal I became suddenly faint and unwell, so my partner told a member of staff that we'd be stepping outside for a few minutes. We left our belongings at the table and went outside. 5 minutes later I was feeling better, only to get back to our table and see the food had been cleared. Obviously there had been no communication between the wait staff, or if there had it had been ignored. When we sat down a waiter also started clearing our drinks from right in front of us, we asked her to stop and she either misheard us or didn't understand as she tried to continue. We figure she thought we were new customers and was trying to clear the table for us, but she was the person who'd already served us a few times. So it was either a massive brain fart moment or the staff really don't pay any attention to you at all (fairly sure it's the latter).
The woman who seemed to be the manager did offer to get us a fresh bowl of ramen which I appreciated, but I'd really only been wanting to finish what I already had and didn't want to waste food. The price of the extra bok choy was taken off the bill at our request, however the automatic £4 tip was left on the bill. I almost asked for it to be removed because the service had been so terrible, but didn't want the hassle as I wasn't feeling 100%.
So, yes you'll get great food here but don't be too reliant on wait staff keeping an eye on you - you'll need to get up and ask for something if you need it. Oh, and don't leave your food...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bone Daddies Soho in London, and I must say it was an incredibly delicious experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. I would highly recommend Bone Daddies Soho to anyone in search of a culinary adventure.
The food at Bone Daddies Soho is simply outstanding. The menu offers a variety of mouthwatering dishes that showcase the flavors and creativity of Japanese cuisine. From the moment I took my first bite, it was evident that the chefs at Bone Daddies Soho have a deep understanding of the art of ramen and Japanese cuisine. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was rich and flavorful. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the attention to detail was evident in every bite.
One standout dish that I absolutely loved was the Tonkotsu Ramen. The noodles were springy, the pork was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, and the broth was incredibly flavorful. It was a bowl of comfort and satisfaction that left me wanting more. I also had the pleasure of trying the Tantanmen Ramen, which had a perfect balance of heat and creaminess. The combination of flavors was truly delightful.
The service at Bone Daddies Soho was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations based on personal preferences. The waitstaff made sure that every aspect of the dining experience was enjoyable, from the prompt service to the attentiveness to dietary restrictions.
In addition to the delectable food and excellent service, the ambiance of Bone Daddies Soho added to the overall experience. The restaurant has a trendy and vibrant atmosphere, with a mix of modern and traditional Japanese elements. The open kitchen concept allows diners to witness the skilled chefs in action, adding to the excitement and authenticity of the dining experience.
Overall, my experience at Bone Daddies Soho was nothing short of exceptional. The food was outstanding, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was lively and inviting. I left the restaurant with a satisfied palate and a desire to return for another culinary adventure. Read moreI'm guilty of not posting any review for Bone Daddies any sooner. I've been here many times and it's my go to Ramen place when I need a fix. I've been to this place since 2015. Bone Daddies has this really hip vibe, you'd think it's a cool bar but it's just really awesome how they made Ramen look cool. First of all, I've not been to a Ramen place that offers you bibs and hair ties (for ladies with long locks). That's really thoughtful.
The area is smaller than most restaurants. There's usually a queue outside, but the wait is about 15-20mins depending how crowded it is. Its a little noisy, so it's probably not great for intimate conversations. The place is cramp, so you'll find yourself squeezed between people. It's generally not a place to bring babies or kids. Absolutely great for couples and if you're lucky, you might get an entire table for larger groups.
I usually order the T22 Ramen with Chicken scratchings. It's probably one of my favourite. If you're not into pork all that much, there's that option for you. There are a bunch of vegetarian options as well. So you'll be glad to find a variety. Today however we decided to try something else on the menu:
Tonkotsu Ramen £11: Pork belly with Spring onions in 20 hours cooked pork broth If you're looking for an easy entrance and introduction to classic Ramen, this would be a good choice. It comes with two flavoured eggs and Bamboo shoots. I usually put in extra garlic and sesame crushed seeds to bump up the flavour.
Curry Ramen £12: Spicy curry broth with deep fried chicken and jalapeño Anyone who likes chilli should try this bowl of fire. It tastes as spicy as it looks. Be prepared to have a cup of ice water ready. Also don't be surprise if you suffer the "ring of fire" the next day
As with all good restaurants in London, there is usually a wait. But it's shaded and there's a heater outside. They work very quickly to try serve everyone their food. I've never been disappointed with their services and would definitely continue...
