We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant yesterday. We tried the soup of the day (a delicious lentil soup), octopus (I ordered it as a hot starter, and my husband chose the main course option), mussels, chicken burger, and chicken skewer. Every dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
The octopus was a special highlight. We couldn’t help but remember a past holiday where my husband had the best octopus of his life. When we shared this story with our server, Cengo, he smiled and assured us, “You’re about to have the second-best experience!” My husband agreed, placing this octopus as a close second to his favorite and very similar in taste and quality—a delightful surprise.
The kids were thrilled with the free scoop of ice cream included in their meal, and they were absolutely delighted with their treat!
We had the pleasure of being served by Cengo, who was incredibly kind and attentive, as was his colleague (though we didn’t catch her name). The atmosphere was relaxed, with soft lighting that created a calm and cozy ambiance, perfect for enjoying a meal.
To finish the meal, they surprised us with Turkish delight and generously offered an extra drink on the house, which we kindly declined but truly appreciated the gesture.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re looking forward to...
Read moreThis was a return visit after several years. So the mere fact it is still operating means it must be doing something the locals like. This is a good standard local restaurant. The decor is simple clean and cosy. Food is honest and tasty, a mix of Mediterranean inspired dishes thrown around Turkish favourites. A big bowl of bread was provided at the start which is always a good sign. I started with the falafel, which was excellent. Good crisp outer shell and a light fluffy and moist centre, which is rare. Tried the moussaka for main, which was tasty and good portion size. It would have been great if there had been more of those flavourful potatoes, that absorb the flavours of everything, from being at the base of Moussaka. Ended the meal with the baklava , which was crisp and not overly sweet, which I enjoyed. The service was genuinely friendly, attentive and professional, something you don't always find in this day and age. Prices are also very fair, both on food and drinks which in Wanstead is often not the case these days. They operate a set menu 2 and 3 course menu on the week days , which I have to come back and try out . Hopefully sooner than...
Read moreHave been here before and enjoyed our meal. This time, totally different. There was a group of incredibly loud women in the restaurant who had been asked to quieten down by management. They refused to do so. Screeching, screaming, howling. Not a care for anyone else’s dining experience. A couple next to us had their hands over their ears at times, and at first it was embarrassingly funny. Then another couple stood up and had a word with the manager. Nothing was done. When we felt their behaviour was going to ruin our evening, I quietly called the manager over and asked if anything could be done. No, he said. They were regulars, you see! He then looked embarrassed and asked if I could have a word with them instead? Mate, I’ve come to your restaurant, I am paying you for a pleasant dining experience, good food, etc. I’m meant to be relaxing. Suggest you go on a “difficult conversation course” and learn how to deal with pain in the backside customers. Terrible experience, none of us will be...
