HONEST review of my experience last night:
Food: Very well presented. Calamari was ok but not much flavour, octopus was delicious but very expensive considering the portion size, the scallops and yellow fin tuna tartar were lovely too. Chips disappointing, no flavour! The addition of large dishes to the menu would be nice.
Drinks: margarita was reasonably priced at £10, rosé wine at £10 for 175ml, to be honest I don’t drink much wine so I can’t comment on this but it seemed pricey.
Ambiance: lovely restaurant, great decor, liked that there was a DJ.
Service: This is a major downfall. Not attentive in the slightest. They have so many staff but not many who appear to know what they’re doing. We ordered our drinks and I was brought mine but my friend wasn’t brought hers. After five mins sitting there waiting to be able to toast, we asked where hers was and were eventually brought it (apparently they forgot it). Food did come quickly and plates were cleared relatively quickly but there was no attentiveness around checking if we were ok, if we wanted more drinks etc. After 20 minutes or so sitting there with empty glasses I asked if we could order more drinks. The server asked if we wanted the same again and I said yes. Again, mine was brought over and my friend’s was not! It’s not hard to pour a bit of rosé in a glass and bring both drinks together so I’m not sure how they failed to do so on both occasions. We also had to ask for dessert menus but decided not to get any, however after we paid the bill and as we were about to leave we were asked if we wanted complimentary desserts, so we stayed and tried them and they were delicious.
Summary: There is definitely some work needed (mainly around service) to bring the score up sadly. However, it’s a nice restaurant and vibe and I would like to return try breakfast...
Read more£1 coffee probably worst 1 pound I've spent this year literally straight down the drain. It is a shame Cockfosters has no decent coffee spots this looked like okay place but the staff are weird and could not drink the coffee. Hoping Cockfosters Road gets the good cafes it deserves not just arrogant wannabe establishment. Places I tried for coffee Miracles 4/10 Middeys 1/10 Marlos 3/10 Shakespeare 2/10 Costa coffee 5/10 Firedog 1/10 coffee machine in fios food 2/10 BP station 6/10 probably the best coffee in Cockfosters only because automated machine so no human error or ignorance. I do think there should be more variety in atmosphere and service of food and drink in Cockfosters, at the moment Turkish speaking owners operate the most and have a mini monopoly in Cockfosters, some of them 2 to 3 shops all same stuff really however act like they are too good for everyone. All for supporters of small business but at the moment the atmosphere and business model of most in Cockfosters road is a mini monopoly. I only paid £1 I struggle to understand how some customers pay 3.50 upwards for just very low...
Read moreThe atmosphere and ambiance was great.
The service wasn't outstanding but nothing was wrong or bad.
The food was super disappointing. The chicken wings were tiny and more bone than meat. The tuna starter was good. Our mains were not good. The curry itself was very small - I poured the curry into the rode bowl and when looking at it that was not a main sized meal. One person didn't finish their main which was also very small (the meatballs). Two others enjoyed their ribs but they came with no sides.
I could have put a 3/5 but the cost and value brought it down. £20+ for a main with no sides in zone 4/5, for local residents is very expensive. My curry was around £25.
For £65 a head I expected a lot better. (We had 1 bottle of wine and 1...
