A group of us went for lunch yesterday and the bill came to £73. A member of staff embarrassed us (but in reality she embarrassed herself) by telling us that we owed not £73, but £108. Despite us showing her the bill several times, and despite us each producing our individual receipts, she insisted. Then three other staff members came over and confirmed the same. We did not pay them a penny more than the bill total, and I certainly didn't leave a tip. The Manager apologised afterwards, but the apology should have come from the member of staff who accused us of underpaying, and the other two members of staff who followed her like sheep.
In addition, I paid by debit card. The member of staff should have handed me the terminal and given me the choice as to whether I paid using my PIN or by contactless payment. Instead, she kept the terminal in her hand, took the card from me and swiped it, so two things were wrong here a) the card should have been handled by me and ONLY me, and b) she should have asked me how I wanted to pay. I had only been there once before, and the last time I paid cash. If I go again, I will tell the member of staff BEFOREHAND to hand me the terminal so that I can pay for my meal in the way that I choose.
To summarise, the food was good, and the portions generous. Regarding the service, even when a restaurant is extremely busy, as this was yesterday, the staff should be trained to...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting the restaurant, we went on a Sunday around 1.30pm. We were there for brunch and was served by Pedo, he was great and made sure our experience was enjoyable. The food selection in the menu is great, the price is affordable, the portion sizes are really good. The food is fresh and came out hot. Everyone was pleased with what they got.
Overall it was a good experience, because of the time we went we made reservations as it gets very busy around lunch time, however they try their best to accept walk-ins. The only area to improve on would be their online booking system and contact. The number on the webpage at the time of me attending the restaurant didn’t work (13.04.25) I was not sent a confirmation for my booking and there was no way of me amending my booking so I had to make several bookings when my circumstances changed. If there was a smoother online booking system that would be perfect. But I’d still give them a 5* rating as that didn’t take away from the experience.
The restaurant is great for casual dining. We had a great time and will definitely be back. I’d gladly recommend this place to any...
Read moreClassy and welcoming-looking eaterie with plenty of kerb appeal and outdoor tables, this place definitely feels more "restaurant/bistro" than coffee shop and is maybe underselling themselves with the word "café". Food was very well-presented, tasty, hot and flavoursome. Staff were pleasant and attentive and we were served quickly. It has a Mediterranean, slightly art deco feel to the interior design which I love, beautiful black granite/marble in the bathrooms and the outdoor rattan chairs were surprisingly comfortable thanks to the firmly padded cushions, so you don't feel you want to leave quickly or suffer with the usual achy bum cheeks while shuffling from side to side. We had eggs benedict with smoked salmon, omelette with fries, caramel churros and chocolate fondant plus wine and beer for 3 people and spent little over £60 for a relaxing late lunch, which we felt was reasonable and definitely worth it for the quality and atmosphere. Would love to go back for a special...
