I went to visit a Turkish restaurant around Leytonstone called Gokyuzu. It's close to my old sixth form I use to go to. I haven't been in that area since 5 years ago so it was a really long time. But nevertheless me and some friends wanted to try out some foods during the eat out discount month and this was one of the first few restaurants we went to because we wanted something different and it was very popular amongst locals in the area. Now on to the restaurant. We went inside and it was fairly easy to get in, but for obvious reasons you need a mask. Which is a good thing and the decorations in the interior of the restaurant was very beautiful and very simple with elegance. The staff was very friendly and gave us time to order and we did order a lot but before I explain the food order they provided us some very warm and soft pitta bread with a housemade mint & cream sauce which was very good. I ordered a Sarma Kazuk Beyti which is marinated lamb with garlic which has been grilled over charcoal with a bread wrap and cheese and complimentary yoghurt and bulgur which is the bowl shaped rice looking item. At first bite it was amazing and it was hot, tender, a bit flavourful and created a good balance between the yoghurt and meats which helped it become very edible but the problem only started half way after eating and it suddenly started losing all flavours and becoming bland as if my body didn't really like eating it anymore and I wasn't the only one. It made me feel that this dish is only made to make you full not to make you feel satisfied... Suddenly the meats just became so dry and bland and the yoghurt started tasting very sour it made me feel disappointed after I finished eating like it wasn't as good as the first bite. It's a food that deteriorates after your first bite. The other orders were also a complimentary salad and I'm not sure what kind but it was actually good but the only thing the salad didn't need were the rockets which made the salad taste more like perfume than an actual salad but it was okay and lastly was a dessert which I don't exactly remember the name of but it was okay average dessert nothing too amazing and last but not least was the complimentary Turkish tea and I really love tea and this was very nice and tasty. The price of the whole meal was very expensive around £30 per person but since we went during the eat out it was around £15. It's definitely not worth the price at all for £30 but for £15 with discounts it gets a pass. Overall the experience was mere average and the food was very average the restaurant itself was beautiful and the food also took a long time to make nearly waited around an hour. But I do have hope the restaurant can improve in the future. Turkish cuisines are amazing when made right I just hope they don't alter and drop standards because the place has potential. 6/10.

We ordered takeaway with Deliveroo and it was terrible. They replaced baby potatoes with soggy chips without asking us. They gave a really small amount of dry chicken with the chicken shish with stale grains. The chicken in the picture is most certainly not worth £14.50! They only gave one portion of salad and bread even though we bought it for two people. I contacted the manager at Walthamstow and he told me that he didn't give us two portions of bread and salad as they are trying to be environmentally friendly - why is the chicken shish in a half empty box in that case? They gave the chips in Styrofoam which isn't exactly environmentally friendly. Also - we paid for it, so we should receive it. He blamed the quality of food on the delivery drivers which obviously doesn't make sense. I asked him if they check food quality before it goes out for delivery and he says the restaurant has 1000s of orders each day so they don't have time to check everything. He offered no help, told me to just sort it via deliveroo and I am still waiting on a response from them. They're not easy to get in touch with, so basically £46.29 spent on really poor food and quite rude service. Do not recommend - way better places in the area!

Hi, I placed an order last Friday. Food was never delivered to me. The driver went to the wrong place, claiming I provided the wrong address, which I used previously and no one had any problems and all orders were always on time. The driver called to confirm the address and I said where I live, and he said he knows where is that. Guess what you can track drivers and see how they move. The driver spent like 25 min in 1 place ( looks like he met someone and had a chat)and then he passed by my house without stopping and went all the way back to the restaurant. I tried to call the restaurant, but it was useless. I was shocked at how the manager handled the situation. He said they are not dealing with deliveries and I can contact Just It. He can see the driver was back with my food and NO replacement was offered or redelivery. The guy on the phone said he does not care and I can place another order if want and that I DO NOT understand how they work. I tried to explain that choosing the correct partners is their responsibility because it has an impact on the food which was cooked by the restaurant. Well, I spent 10 years in hospitality, working in a 5 * hotel (restaurant) so I would never say to my clients that there is no other option. We would always try to find a solution. The manager just said that there is nothing that they can do. If you think to support some businesses during the lockdown, I would not do it to Gokyuzu Walthamstow, because they just do not care about their clients. Contacting Just It did not help either. They promised to investigate and come back to me within 48 hours, which was never done. I contacted them again and now they asked 72 hours more to investigate. I want my money back. Because now it is appearing on my account that food was delivered, which was NOT. and...

The service was brilliant, staff would constantly be offering small dishes of bread, tzatziki, and salad to your table free or charge. (Although there is a service charge applied onto your bill at the end of the meal) but it's worth it as the sheer amount that's given to you for free is substantial enough to justify the small service charge.

The food was great, my family are meat eaters so they had a lot of choice, I on the other hand am vegetarian, they have a few options, I went for the roasted vegetables served with yoghurt and rice. I found it to be quite bland so I had to add a bit of salt, they had a very nice chilli sauce and white sauce on the table which I had large helpings of to add more flavour to my dish. The portions of all of our dishes were very large, even if you choose a small option they do really give you a lot so try not to come to the restaurant on a full stomach, and try not to eat too much of the free starter sides s tour main meal may be difficult to finish. Drinks are £2.80 each for things like Sprite or coke, which is fair as it is a restaurant and it's a glass bottle portion.

Overall I'd say the restaurant is a nice place to eat out with your family has a good vibe and atmosphere, and the food is for the most part quite tasty, my only qualm is the lackluster choice for vegetarians. They make up for this with their excellent catering and hospitality services. For 4 people all having a meal and a drink each our bill came up to about £60, including the small...
