Went for the first time with a friend and will not come back. Ordered Spring Rolls and they were good , so I was expecting a great main but what a disappointment it was! I ordered Pho, which was alright, but friend ordered the grilled chicken with rice and to say that it was awful is an underestimation. Menu said that it will come with pickles, lettuce and they were never added!. We asked fried rice and it tasted fishy , like if they added fish oil yikes! The chicken was too spicy and we asked for a change without chilli flakes and they brought a chicken that was cold in some part, and it appeared raw. The served this in a bowl of fishy rice and some slices of cucumber (?) and lukewarm chicken on top. The waitress also appeared like she hated the job, but i don't blame her tbh. We also ordered bubble tea which was good. Bill was over £40 and the experience was not enjoyable at all. We'll...
Read moreI like the Gao house and it's food, but today's performance was poor. I turned up at 5.15pm (shop opens at 5), door was open, sign outside and clearly stated it what time it opens on the door. There was a young lady behind the counter. We said hello. She said they weren't open. I said, well, you open at 5 and your door is open. She said to come back at 5.30. I said no and asked why. She said she had a late break. Apart from the fact that she was unapologetic, she didn't even bother to look at us when talking. If they weren't open, don't open your door and put the A board sign outside. Close the door with a "closed" sign on it. I wouldn't have moaned if she had at least been friendly and a little apologetic, but she couldn't give a toss and was rude in her attitude. Not what returning customers...
Read moreWanted to give it another go but still very disappointing. My husband had a decent pho but it turned up 15 minutes after my duck banh mi (which was more of a game of 'find the duck meat') so we both ate alone -- with a long gap in between. There were four members of staff and only ten customers so I'm not sure what the problem was. Despite me politely complaining the manager (?) didn't knock the drinks off or anything like that. £17 for a very sparse sandwich, quite a nice soup a couple of cokes and for us to both eat awkwardly alone seemed like a total rip off to me -- we'd have done better to go to The Signal and got the whole chicken for that. That said, I'm pretty sure the rolls are now made with rice flour. If you do go, order the same thing as the person...
