Gail’s is iconic in London in its own way and the location and atmosphere of this particular Gail’s in Barnes is just so beautiful. But what made my experience so special and makes me want to write this review is this kind , patient and very courteous girl called NORA . She is a gem to have as an employee. People make the place . Thank you Nora for the way you treat your customers and how you make sure they feel welcomed, attended and heard. I won’t go about the whole incident but how you dealt with it simply speaks of your great values and ethos. We need more people spreading kindness than agitation and anger . Wishing you all the best and hope to see the smiling you soon again .

A staple in Barnes for baked goods with a wide selection! I prefer to visit here for treats rather than drinks, as I usually opt for other options on the high street. The café is always bustling, and like most places, there's a charge to sit and eat, but there's a lovely park just around the corner where you can enjoy your goodies. It's in a great location and always busy, but like many Gail's locations, it can be a bit overpriced. Overall, it's a good spot for baked goods!

We stopped for lunch at GAIL's Barnes one sunny Sunday afternoon in November. It was a bustling place, with plenty of choice and plenty of freshly made produce being made on-site. We sat in and enjoyed a fantastic Pastrami Bagel, as well as a Grain Salad and Mushroom Quiche too. It was on the pricey side by the quality was superb, so warranted the price tag. We didn’t get a chance to try their sweet items, but they looked fantastic too!

Poor service and rude staff member, especially given the price. Ordered pot of tea and a mince pie, cost £6.95. Minute or two later my name is called quietly, no eye contact, no engagement. I went to the counter and the member of staff just pointed at the tray with my pot of tea etc. I asked about the mince pie and she rolled her eyes and said “this is coffee, cakes are down there” pointing along the counter and round the corner. I said to myself “oh, I’ll go and get it myself then shall I?” as I went to get the mince pie. As I sat down the eye rolling woman on the coffee counter shouted across to my table “is there a problem?” I said that I would have expected better service given the price, supposed reputation etc. she snapped that “that’s how it works, we’re not a table service cafe”. I said that I didn’t want to discuss this any further as I’d made my point and didn’t want to get into an argument across the cafe but she carried on hectoring me, basically behaving like a spoilt school girl, determined to have the last word. I ignored her. Thin woman, long hair,...

Bizarre service. The guy who served me didn’t seem to have any warm personality. I don’t care about the fact I was overcharged but I care about the basics. Be pleasant, he wasn’t rude he just didn’t care. The scone I ordered, I checked first to make sure it came with cream and jam, he told me it did and then didn’t initially provide cream. When I asked where the cream was, he told me I didn’t ask for it. So here policy is “customer is always wrong”.

For the record I asked for both cream and jam when ordering. He then lazily told me there was no cream and offered me butter which I refused. He eventually agreed to allow me some cream. Then would only allow me a fork to cut open the scone and spread the cream on it. I waited for the other guy serving to be free to ask for a knife. It was all just so strange. After all that the scone was stale and not worth the painful experience. I wouldn’t bother going there again and certainly don’t...

They have a POLICY OF NO PEOPLE with Allergies !!! I went some time ago with Tommy girlfriend who has a severe nut allergy. Their cakes are tasty and I asked if they had any nut free cakes. They smirked and laughed and said to go somewhere else as “everything in our store contains all allergens including nuts and gluten”. I asked if even their cans of coke had nuts. They said yes !!! How can a company be so hateful towards a minority group ? Another time my sister went and asked for a flute free hot chocolate. They made it for her and she had an instant reaction to the gluten in it. When she asked why they said that they thicken their hot chocolate as standard with wheat flour. If you like overpriced corporate but fairly tasty snacks and you are a superhuman with no allergies then you should be ok in here. If not STAY WELL CLEAR ! For your own safety. It’s profit above caring for...
