Granny's Caribbean — Restaurant in London

Ordered from Grannys last night, as my friend came to visit and we really wanted some tasty caribbean food! I was a bit skeptical about ordering from here as there were a lot of mixed reviews. The reviews were quite divided in that the food was amazing but the delivery service wasn't that great and took a long time or didn't show up at all.

Ordered anyway via Just Eat - Curry goat and plain rice, jerk chicken and rice and peas, macaroni cheese, coleslaw and plantain.

Food was running late so I called the restaurant, the lady assured me it was with the driver and on its way... 40 minutes after the estimated delivery time it arrived.

Majority of the food was worth the wait, the curry goat was flavoursome and tender #yum and my friend enjoyed her jerk chicken. The mac n cheese was really nice and the homemade coleslaw was true to carribean style which I LOVE!

The plantain was disappointing, undercooked and dried out and too hard to eat... Not sure if that is how it is generally served at this restaurant but when I order caribbean I usually get fried plantain that is easy to eat, soft and slightly chewy and clearly fried.

I don't want to throw this restaurant under the bus as the food was really tasty minus the plantain but I think the delivery issues really let Granny's down and could probably be easily rectified with another delivery driver.

I would definitely eat from here again although I would not order online, I would prefer to eat in when it is open or order and collect in person.

We decided to give this place a try on a Friday evening while driving by, craving Caribbean food. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great. First impressions: the restaurant could really use a deep clean, and the lady who served us was eating while packing our order, which felt a bit unprofessional.

I ordered curry goat with rice and peas. The rice was underwhelming, with lots of crunchy, hard bits—possibly from a last portion. The goat, however, was quite tender and flavorful. My partner had jerk chicken with Jollof rice, but the Jollof was far too spicy for his taste. When we asked for plain rice, we were told they had run out, so I ended up making some at home. To make matters worse, the jerk chicken was undercooked, with noticeable blood in the meat, so it was left uneaten.

Sadly, we won’t be returning...

I ordered after work and went in to collect which l have done many times.

I ordered the usual Chicken and Potato Roti. I got home to have some and the color was different Dark brown (Nearly black) it put me off and l didn't eat it. I took it back to the restaurant the next day and the owner said you have stewed Chicken that is why it is so dark. She said l know you and l would have given you the one you like but she was new and gave the right one. I said l am confused and l always get the other Chicken and Potato Roti????

No apology or refund just my fault.

I have worked in restaurants for 40 odd years. We are always told the "The customer is always right" Not that we always believe this the case.

For the sake of a bad review and losing a loyal customer try to rectify...
