I visited this restaurant for breakfast yesterday, following my niece's recommendation. I was eagerly looking forward to the Deshi breakfast, expecting it to include traditional parathas along with sides such as masala beans or chana, quintessential to a hearty and authentic Deshi meal. Unfortunately, the breakfast I received was underwhelming, comprising two over-fried parathas and an omelette. The meal was disappointingly dry and lacked the variety and authenticity I had anticipated. To enhance the meal, I found myself ordering some baked beans as an additional side.
The Karak chai was just average, but the most significant impact on my dining experience was the restaurant's refusal to provide tap water. After my meal, I asked for a glass of tap water, only to be told by the waiter that they do not serve it. When I expressed my preference for tap water over bottled water and questioned their policy, he promised to inquire but never returned. A follow-up request to a female waitress was met with an outright denial, after which she quickly resumed her other duties. Other patrons who overheard our conversation expressed their support for my request, yet I decided not to pursue the matter further and instead chose to write this review. Offering tap water upon request is, in my view, a fundamental part of hospitality that signifies customer care and service, even though it's not a legal obligation. The restaurant's inability to fulfil such a basic request, particularly in such an indifferent manner, is a poor reflection of their approach to customer service.
Refusal of tap water in restaurants is a very rare occurrence. The last time I encountered this issue, many months ago, I simply explained my preference for tap over bottled water, and my request was accommodated. However, this time, my request was rejected twice, suggesting a stringent, profit-oriented policy from the management. This apparent disregard for customer focus, coupled with their failure to provide an authentic Deshi breakfast experience, has led me to decide against returning to or recommending...
Read moreLovely place, nice food, shame about the staff Went into this establishment few times always happy with the service and food . Today was just one big downfall. My order was taken by lovely gentleman, when the order arrived breakfast looked delicious as always. Young lady served me. Cappuccino arrived without spoon , no sugar on the table as well. No cutlery (I took from other table) Ask the young lady server very politely for sugar , only to be told there must be some… well there wasn’t any in small cup only empty sachets from previous customers. Well was given some sugar with a look like don’t bother me anymore. Yet I had to ask with very polite manner please can I have a small spoon for my cappuccino. Oh well I shouldn’t have …the look I have been given with 🙄 rolling eyes and expressive Tttsssss… after I have been given large spoon for main meals, probably on purpose so I ask could I have a small spoon and the lady walked away never came back to my table. After 5 minutes I calmly went to the counter to ask for small spoon again and been told there aren’t any ( very strange for coffee shop) than after someone probably manager told her where they were I have been given one from bucket on the floor wiped nicely by this lady with her bare fingers. So I calmly asked for napkin wiped the spoon stirred my cappuccino finished the breakfast which was cooked nicely was about to pay… yet again had to go to the counter because why would she serve me. Paid my bill ask for receipt, paper got stuck in card machine, obviously not bothered to change it so was given only email option for my receipt. Never ever I have been frowned upon by young staff (maybe trainee) like this before for asking nicely for things which should be automatic …. absolutely no manners . The email receipt shows staff name Lufa , without shadow of a doubt the manager could train his...
Read moreThis past weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Hashtag Cafe, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and well-kept the space was. The tables were spotless, the floors were gleaming, and the whole atmosphere felt fresh and inviting. It's clear the staff takes great pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for their customers. But as we all know, a great atmosphere is nothing without great food, and Hashtag Cafe delivered on that front in a major way. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was simply outstanding. The chicken was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned beautifully. The waffles were light and fluffy, with a slight sweetness that paired wonderfully with the savory chicken. My partner got the avocado toast with a poached egg, which they raved about. The avocado was fresh, the toast was perfectly crunchy, and the egg was cooked exactly right, with a runny yolk that coated everything in deliciousness. The service was also top-notch. Our food arrived quickly, and our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They checked in on us just enough to make sure we were happy with our meal. The combination of excellent food, a sparkling clean setting, and friendly service made for a truly wonderful dining experience. If you're looking for a spot with delicious food in a clean, welcoming environment, Hashtag Cafe is...
