In short, I was accused of trying to scam the hotel after I brought it to their attention that their smoke alarms were covered by a plastic bag, rendering them useless in a fire.
I'm not trying to scam them, I'm a firefighter and I was trying to let them know I wasn't happy that my room wasn't fit for purpose due to that issue.
Unfortunately I didn't see the alarm until the morning, but now I've been accused of all sorts ill explain every single issue I found with the room.
This was the only room they had left. We didn't have an option other than to find another hotel.
Our room stank of cigarettes. The bedding, pillow and morning towels were awful and kept us both up throughout the night feeling quite unwell, even with the window open.
The radiator had fallen on the floor, off of the wall and the floor around it was covered in dirt. I was told later that they knew this and it's 'on the list of jobs to do'.
The bathroom light was hanging out of the ceiling.
The bathroom door doesn't fully shut, so there was minimal privacy from my colleague I shared the room with.
Considering we had to pay about £95 to stay in a hotel that usually charges £55 for a stay, it pisses me off to be accused of breaking the law after I professionally brought the issue to the company's attention. I'm not trying to bully anyone into a refund or blackmail the company into giving us anything. All I wanted was for them to realize it wasn't ana acceptable stay, but now I'm being accused of making the whole thing up and lying about it... Even though I have photos of...
Read moreWe both stayed at the guest house and ate in the pub. Overall, the guest house would have deserved 4 stars and the food, 2 stars, so am avergaing 3 stars. The guest rooms are well decorated and modernized, in addition to the common areas. The rooms were clean (some dust on tv and top of wardrobe were present) and kettle, tea biscuits and daily cleaning, which many other hotels are getting out of the habit of doing so since COVID, so that was appreciated. The down side is that I was never able to get the wifi to work, so had to use my phone's data (I work online and depend on wifi for work) and the parking charge should be more prevalent on their website. One gets the impression that it is offered by the guest house; however, it is a chargeable parking lot run by the council across a very busy street (but is free between 5:30pm-7:30am). In addition, the location is in an unattractive commercial area; but, is close walking distance to the Seven Kings station. We were less impressed with the food at the pub. We paid almost 30 quid for a burger, fish and chips and one lager and the food quality and presentation was on par with fast food or Wetherspoons. For the price, we expected more; however, the staff was very...
Read moreThis used to be a lovely Irish bar, until recently, unfortunately when they renovated the bar and restaurant they got rid of everything that made this place homely, it has lost its homely feel, it has now turned into a very commercialised business. All modern looking, the staff look all professional which is great. Apart from the pictures and Irish shop , it’s just a normal pub. They used to offer Chef ketchup with your dinner, I asked for it one day and I was told they no longer give it out that I would have to use the sachets provided, the annoying thing was I seen the ketchup in the small cupboard which had clearly been used. All the lovely friendly staff have been replaced, the lovely Irish chef is still there which is the only plus, a lovely Irish man. The warm Irish feel has left this place apart from the chef a few Irish pictures and the Irish shop, I’m so disappointed as I loved the old O Gradys . I’m sure they wanted to model like O Neills or something but it’s just not the same. During eat out to help out they tried to charge me full price too until I pointed out that they were taking part in eat out help out, only then I received my discount. Sad sad times...
