A Promising Flirtation with Turkish Brunch – But Cilbir Deserves Better
There’s no denying this place is a gem for the sweet-toothed and brunch-hungry. It looks the part: clean, airy, and blessedly air-conditioned (a small mercy in this heatwave). Service? Impeccably friendly—genuinely warm staff who make you feel welcome without hovering.
The Turkish egg skillet—clearly aiming to channel the legendary çılbır—arrived looking promising. But what followed was less divine revelation, more a lost-in-translation remix.
Visually stunning, but flavour-wise, it missed a few key notes. The dish aims for çılbır but lands short: yoghurt was unseasoned (no garlic/herbs), eggs were overdone (no runny yolk), and chilli oil replaced the essential Aleppo chilli butter—making it look the part, but not taste it.
The pickled onions and pomegranate were nice touches but didn’t tie the dish together. Garlic bread, though, was excellent—soft, warm, and buttery, perfect for scooping.
Then came the maple coffee, which leaned more towards cinnamon dessert in a cup than actual coffee. Cloying in sweetness and heavy-handed on the cinnamon—what little coffee flavour there might have been was drowned beneath a sugary tide. Call it a cinnamon latte and be done with it.
Service was great, staff super friendly, and the air-con is a blessing in this heat. A nice experience overall, but the Turkish eggs could become a star dish with a few tweaks.
That said—this isn’t a slam. There’s real potential here. The concept is exciting, the ingredients decent, and the staff clearly care. They’re on the right track. But for a dish as iconic and deceptively simple as çılbır, the devil is in the detail—and this needed more devil.
Would I come back? Absolutely. But next time, I’ll ask if the eggs can run—and bring my own Aleppo chilli flakes,...
Read moreI ordered the cookie dough, its the only thing i have at dessert parlours. I'd also like to think im a cookie dough connoisseur, its the only thing i enjoy.
My first time at Heavenly Desserts, i have to admit they have done well on the decor. However i cannot say the same for my cookie dough.
My cookie sough did not arrive in the usual shape of a 'cookie'. Instead i received a rectangular block. It was much smaller than other places and the quality was substandard.
On the topic of substandard, the ice 'cream' that accompanied my cookie dough was nothing but just that... ice. There was no 'cream' in my ice cream. Cheaper than icelands ice cream. It was icy and watery, i wouldn't call it ice cream. If you take a look at the photo my 'ice cream' is white. Usually good or decent quality vanilla ice creams are not white white but creamy white in colour.
The other strange problem they have, the dessert parlour is full of flies. I am not saying this out of spite, they have a serious fly infestation. I couldn't stop waving my hand.
Also the place lacks air conditioning, it was very warm in there. I don't how they will cool down the place come summer.
Finally. When i visited, there was hardly any customers. Yet they take forever to make and bring you a simple cup of tea. We waited an awfully long time to receive the basics all whilst they appeared to be staffed well behind the counter.
The prices do not justify the quantity nor the quality of food.
The fact the food was edible and good decor i can only give this place 1 stars.

I visited with my family to celebrate my birthday, having looked forward to enjoying one of my favourite desserts – the San Sebastian cheesecake – which I’ve had many times before at your store. However, on this occasion, the portion was shockingly small, not at all consistent with what I’ve previously been served. When I politely raised this with a staff member, I was told, quite dismissively, that "it has always been like this," despite the fact that I’m a regular customer and know otherwise.
To make matters worse, I was then told to “just eat it” and that “there’s nothing we can do.” I found this response incredibly rude and unprofessional. A little understanding or willingness to help would have gone a long way.
When I did try to eat the cheesecake, it was dry, crumbly, and lacked the rich, creamy flavour I’ve come to associate with it. It felt like a completely different product – and not in a good way.
This experience turned what should have been a joyful birthday outing into a disappointing and frustrating one. I’ve always appreciated the quality and service at Heavenly Desserts, which is why I’ve returned so often. But after this experience, I’m genuinely reconsidering whether I will return again.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and take steps to improve both the quality control of your products and the customer service training...
