Very cute place. Window bar for 3, a small 6 person communal table, and a terrace. I found myself hiding away here on a rainy day. It was a cute place to read and sip my coffee. I ordered a drip coffee and a croissant. The coffee is a bit acidic for my taste. The croissant is huge! (At least as compared to a standard croissant). While it was flakey and had some buttery flavour the exterior was hard and it didn't pull like a fresh croissant. Gave the feeling of being a couple days old (not saying it was just how it tasted). I would go back just for the ambiance, wouldn't get anything I ordered again and maybe try an Americano and see if that made a difference in acidity. Also there are no free or discounted refills on their filtered coffee, which I personally find annoying but that's a personal thing. I got another anyway.
I do feel like if you're a single person as I was people (more patrons than staff, although my cup was cleared and I had to mention I was planning on asking for another) sill try and shuffle you around for their convenience perhaps it comes with territory but I didn't like it. There's also not much ventilation and at some point a womxn staff member presumably on their break hanging with 2 friends at the communal table moved the fan (with no comment) so it was blowing forcefully directly at the table. There were 2 others and myself who didn't appreciate the extra air and so I asked if I could move it. I tried to adjust it so it was still facing the table but not directly at our faces. I asked her first, and while she said okay but didn't seem to appreciate it and mumbled something about entitlement to her friends. Didn't make for a very welcoming or considerate moment taking into account multiple people sitting at a table and she is employed there.
I'd perhaps go back but...
Read moreCompletely juxtaposing the average central London coffee shop, Hideaway is a sight for sore eyes. I envision this place as a motherly pair of arms, reaching out saying ‘come here child, calm down, everything is okay’ as it pulls you softly from the chaotic streets of Central London into its calm and tranquil courtyard. ‘Here sip this warm drink and relax’ it whispers into my ear as my heart rate decreases and my breathing slows. To say this place is a god send just wouldn’t do it justice, the staff are caring, sweet and skilled at their work. The food selection is sublime also, with pastries, sandwiches, sweet treats and yoghurts. Not only are the drinks limited to coffee either, with a TREMENDOUS selection of smoothies and juices that really hit the spot on a hot day. I have gone everyday for almost a year now and wouldn’t choose anywhere else over here. If you are looking for somewhere to rest your weary brain after traversing the hellscape of London, step into this garden of Eden and let them soothe you into...
Read moreCome backing again (2 Oct 2025), my last day in London. This time I came here via Smith's Court. I tried their cortado, beautifully made with latte art stayed intact. This is definitely a testament to skill - the dense of the coffee, the right temperature to steam the milk, of course the coffee beans, all play a critical role. Their croissant was good, though it would be even better offer a heatup service. I also saw their cold brew is readily available in the fridge when I lined up the queue, which I appreciates as I always enjoy cold brew without ice.
2nd time visit on 1 Oct 2025 for quick lunch. I ordered a cold crew and almond apricot pastry. Both are lovely. This is the best spot in the area.
1st time visit, 14 Sept 2025. I ordered the long black and it was excellent. The cafe had a very chill vibe, especially with Westerman's music playing during my visit.
This is the good place to have a snack before going to watch...
