So I visited Naan Staap recently to see what the hype was about. I heard a lot of good things about it so I thought I would check it out. The food was really good but the service was so poor which does it a real disservice.
The arrogance shown by the owner or manager who astonishing. When I questioned him about the poor service he did not even apologise and just ignored it. He didn’t not even say anything as if it was okay. I get that they are in an area with lots of Asians and it will be busy but remember things can change very quickly.
So I go to place an order and wait in the que which was long and again not even an apology then we are told it is cash only. There is no sign at the door or anywhere... I wonder why cash only ? So then we place our order and are told because there are no seats available we cannot get the eat out to help out discount.
To be honest not getting the discount wasn’t an issue it was the poor explanation. I get that the system allocates food for preparation when it is assigned to a table but we could have been told to wait or something could have been sorted. It’s easy to bring up excuses but how about when you force customers to pay by cash only...
Next we get our food and the food was actually good which is really sad that the service was horrendous. I have never given a review in my life but this needed to be said. We were given masala chips by accident and didn’t realise this then the manager or owner said to his worker ‘why did you not ask them’ the worker replied ‘I did’ which was not true but this is so unprofessional in front of customers.
The arrogant manager then took the masala chips of the table without even saying anything and even asked if we had ordered the karak chai which we did and paid. In normal circumstances where there is common sense and decency you let the customer keep that food or you take it away nicely. We didn’t even want the food but it was the way he did it. Masala chips are like £2 brother seriously no one is going to lose sleep over that. All in all the service was so poor and the arrogance of the workers and especially the manager was sickening.
I get that it was a busier day than usual but how difficult is it to say sorry. Chaiiwalla have never had issues like this and once they forgot to make my order but they apologised. This arrogant ogre cannot even say sorry because of...
Read moreVery dissapointed asked to add a drink to a naan costing £4.25 And was told too late not possible now cant make it a "meal", buy the drink seperate for more expensive. Considering we spent nearly £30 for some naans and tea for 2 people, I found it disgraceful that I would even have to argue about this, the till was not even open yet had not even paid yet. Can't say much about the food as I am sitting here venting and considering leaving my the food feel let down. ...... Thanks for your reply much appreciated, but I really don't think you get it, I was at the till still ordering I had not even paid yet the till was not even opened yet!, I could have easily bought a separate drink for "Full price" but that's not the point this is either a staff or system error. It's different if I had sat down got my meal then 15-20 mins later went back to ask for a combo or ammmend my order. I was completely shocked and at one point thought the girl was joking when I repeatedly told her I want a drink with this and she said it's not possible now. I could have paid an extra 50p (which amounts to less than 2% of my order value) for a can of coke that is priced £1.50 but that's not the point I was STILL at the till completing my order had not even paid yet, i could have walked out.
I would love to delete this one star as I think it's slightly unfair, but at the same time I feel it's justified having good customer service means you understand the customer, which you clearly don't understand I was very frustrated even after repeating my self over 10 times and not being heard. I'm sure in hindsight if as you claim you customer service is impeccable something COULD have been done. Honestly spoiled my mood and my meal. Thanks for the offer of the free chai but I don't think this...
Read moreWas passing by with the wife and son, I thought I try it out, first time. I was recommended the Chicken Dum Qeema Naan by the lady at the counter. I made it a combo with a Karak Chai which the wife wanted.
I have to say really disappointed with the Naan. For £4.95 it's a very small naan a 6" 15 cm or smaller. I thought maybe it will have enough stuffing to compensate... boy was I wrong. I also had to wait 15 minutes for my naan when it was not at all busy.
Lack of stuffing, infact lack is an understatement. No chicken stuffing at all, all I could taste was bread and sesame seeds.
Wife enjoyed the Karak Chai was going to give a 2 star rating, however the size and the lack of stuffing costing £4.95 was really disappointing so I'm having to leave 1 stars. I would not have paid more than £1 for the bread. I dont think I'll be visiting again.
Edit:
My response to owner below.
If you're trying to say the Naan was not small and the picture says it all, then take a look at all the reviews after mine who are also claiming the same please respond to them. Portion size is tiny, lack of stuffing.
Are you saying 15 minutes wait is justified because its fresh? for 1 Naan? So imagine how many customers you will have waiting inside 15 mins each. I dont doubt it's not fresh, I am sure the Naan is refrigerated with the stuffing before its warmed up and served as 'fresh'. But if you insist 15 mins is normal waiting time for a tiny naan then you need to reassess how you serve your customers in a...
