Il Vicolo Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in London

Food was delicious, both myself and my partner had veal, in different forms, we had mains and sides, and it was surprisingly filling!

The service was terrible, we arrived in the restaurant, it was very quiet, there were two staff working, and three couples seated, the staff saw us at the door, and proceeded to make us wait awkwardly for a while, before they indicated we should come over. We sat at the table for a solid ten minutes before we were even given a menu, and when we were, I, as the female, was entirely ignored, the waiter would only speak to my partner, and when he ordered a drink, it was assumed that I was having the same. We sat with our drinks and the menu for a very long time, I met the eye of one of the staff multiple times and indicated we were ready to order, but he ignored me, and only came over when my partner called for him. The food arrived promptly in comparison, and was delicious, but then, when we had finished, the plates were taken away, and we were left again, for another fifteen minutes. The waiter offered us the dessert menu, but by this point we'd had enough, and asked for the bill. Another ten minutes passed, before I had to go to the bar and ask for the bill. The real kick in the teeth is that a tip of 12%, on top of a service charge, had been levied to our bill. Did they really think their service...

You cannot get better than this lovely family italian restaurant in the heart of St James. Frederica, Ariana and Chiara are the lovely Italian ladies who run this wonderful place and Antonio the chef's cooking is fantastic. As soon as you enter the atmosphere is lovely. Beautifully starched white table clothes amd tables spaced out in a delightful way to give all diners space and definitely not a feeling of being crammed in. These lovely ladies are great. The food is outstanding and the lovely wine from Italy gorgeous. If you haven't been yet get on your walking shoes and amble down. I highly recommend you book ahead. When we arrived for a meal people were being turned away at the door. Well done ladies...

I just had an "interesting" experience. I arrived for my reservation when only one other table was occupied. I was on my own....I was not given a choice of tables...I was given the one next to a serving area. I wasn't told there were specials; others, couples and groups had specials described at length. I noted each couple or group was asked which table they wanted. I managed to order food and wine, then I was completely ignored. Unless I signaled for service, nothing. When I ordered a second glass of wine it didn't come until I asked a second time. Yes, the restaurant was busy, but old lady, on her own, ignored....really. I...
