Clarence House, a distinguished 19th-century royal residence, serves as the current home of the monarch. Situated just a short walk from Buckingham Palace, this elegant mansion boasts a rich history and a timeless architectural charm. Originally built for the Duke of Clarence, who later became King William IV, the house has since been home to several members of the royal family. Visitors strolling past Clarence House can catch a glimpse of its regal exterior, but a key detail reveals whether the King is present. If the Royal Standard is flying atop the flagpole, it signifies that His Majesty is in residence. This long-standing tradition mirrors the custom at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, offering a subtle yet significant insight into royal protocol. Though not as widely toured as other royal landmarks, Clarence House remains an important fixture of the monarchy, embodying both history and continuity. Its neoclassical façade and meticulously kept gardens reflect the dignity of its inhabitants, while its proximity to St. James’s Palace further cements its place in the heart of London’s royal heritage. Whether simply admiring from the outside or learning about its storied past, Clarence House remains a symbol of British royalty and tradition.

I had the pleasure of passing by Clarence House, a stunning royal residence on the Mall. The Queen's Guards at the front left a lasting impression. Their unwavering dedication and impeccable discipline were truly commendable. The precision in their movements and the iconic red uniforms added a regal touch to the atmosphere. Even from a distance, the guards exuded a sense of duty and professionalism, enhancing the overall experience of visiting this historic site. A must-see for anyone exploring London's royal landmarks!

If you are a fan of the Royals, this is a must see! Present home to Charles and Camilla. Former home to the Queen Mother who was its longest inhabitant, living there for over 50 years. Only open in August. It is located right beside Buckingham Palace. What a lovely and cozy home! Tip: Buy the VIP ticket which gets you a guided tour inside, a souvenir book and a glass of champagne. Note that pics are not allowed inside, which is why I took photos of the guide book.

Excellent visit to Clarence House for my wife and myself .The ground f loor is open to the public. You get a good idea of how the Prince of Wales and the Duchess live .work and entertain. We went into 5 rooms each with a story to tell and some very interesting stories they were. .The rooms were reception room. the library .dining room . sitting room and one other that i have forgotten the name of [sorry]. The tour is just short of an hour and was well worth the £10 plus [seniors rate] that it cost. We had a very knowledgeable guide called Michael who told everything we wanted to know with a few anecdotes thrown in. Although the Queen Mother has passed her influence is still strongly felt and you get an idea of how things were when H.M was around. I asked if her ghost haunts the house and was told that doors have been known to open and shut and sounds have been heard. We would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend ...

The ground floor rooms of HRH the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall's official London residence and former home of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother are open to the public during the month of August.

Several personal artifacts are displayed belonging to various members of the Royal family past and present. Well informed staff provide a guided tour of approximately 45 minutes.

Entry is through the gates facing The Mall and at the end of the tour one of the rooms facing the Green Room has been converted into a shop selling the usual Buckingham Palace branded shower caps and cushions.

Ticket fee allows entry for 12 months from the date of the visit. No photography whatsoever is permitted within the curtilage of...
